Pros: One of, if not the ONLY indoor skate park in eastern NC. Has two bowls (one large, one small) indoors, an indoor street section, and a halfpipe, concrete section, and bowl outside. Has a small skate shop with concessions.
Cons: Open windows and a few leaks so even tho most of the skate park is indoors it still gets slippery on rainy days. Some of the ramps date back to older skate parks and are in need of repair. The building itself also presents obstacles in some areas. Note: Please see the update that I've added to the bottom of this post.
Conclusion: Despite the cons, this is still one of my favorite skate parks in the area. A membership is def worth it if you live close or plan on going there regularly. The staff is also usually pretty nice. In the past they have taught skateboard lessons to kids, had a women's night, skateboard competitions, and music shows so if the new owner is willing to keep that up and address the few issues it has it may become one of if not THE best indoor skate park in the state.
Update: The new owner is currently fixing the issues I cited, starting with the building itself. Some old ramps have been removed and a few new features have been added. It seems to be better maintained in general now aside from the bowl outside which still usually has water in it. I can't wait to skate the new Skate Barn again, especially if they plan on continuing to add new features and have skate comps or events there! It is a legendary, underrated gem...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I absolutely adore this skatepark. it is the absolute best one we have been to yet; we went to Ogden two weeks ago and while it was rather decent sized it was all concrete and when you fall you will hurt. Skate Barn has many different types of ramps with many different inclines and transitions, rails, boxes, concrete flats, and a huge half pipe and two bowls(5ft and 3ft). we will absolutely be returning! It's a great place to take your kids for a day of skating, or to just go on your own or with your wife and have a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's easily been about 10 years since I picked up a board. I was surfing the web to try and find a local skatepark in the area that wasn't ran down or too far away. Thankfully, the Skate Barn came to the rescue. They have both an indoor and outdoor park you can Skate. On top of that, they have a board shop inside just incase you require any kind of maintenance for your board. Amazing staff, excellent pricing and overall just an awesome park to Skate at. Highly recommend helmets on days that are busy. Have fun shredding...
