Parked in the Jetty Park parking lot where there are public restrooms and a Splash Pad play area. This is the parking lot furthest from the jetty. The parking lot closest to the jetty has small covered picnic tables and some grills. There's also a playground with slides and a tower for the kiddos. We took a walk on the bridge between the 2 parking lots and along a fine gravel path to the jetty; each of those surfaces were dry and seemed like they are wheelchair/walker/stroller accessible and smoothish until almost 3/4 along the jetty. The bridge and jetty walking surfaces are each about 7ish ft. wide. The gravel path was about standard sidewalk width. The jetty has some handrails on one side where it begins, but has openings to access the large granite cube shaped stone, closer to the water. Further along, there is not a handrail. The distance from the cement slab surface of the jetty to the cut granite is maybe one foot in some places, more or less in others. NOTE: A person may become unhappy if they were to fall off the primary access surface onto the granite. About 3/4 way out on the jetty, there's about an 11ish inch step down to a gravelly cement surface. This is a very textured surface. The step also has a narrow, rusted, but sturdy ramp that I don't recommend for wheelchair or motorized scooter use. The ramp is wide enough for a wagon or stroller if you have the strength to manage the load, but the height to length ratio is not compliant with any safety standard. Yes, I mean it is steep. There aren't any trash or recycle receptacles on the jetty, but there are receptacles for fishing line. The only restrooms are at the parking lot. I don't have a review of those. If you're planning to spend any length of time on the jetty during daylight hours, consider sunscreen, hat, long sleeves, lots of water in a cooler on wheels (because who really enjoys lugging a cooler around?), an umbrella (rigged onto your fishing gear wagon or cart), folding chair (rocks and cement are hard), protein and fruit snacks, a trash bag (or other method to remove your trash, otherwise it could accidentally get into the water and choke a sea turtle or other sea life). Enough of this. If you want to enjoy some good food and adult beverages while at Surfside, check out Sea Horse Bar & Grill at 310 Ocean. Lots of covered outdoor seating, steps from the beach with beach...
Read moreI absolutely recommend coming here!! I almost want to gate keep it! It is a GREAT place to bring your family as every person there just thrives with what they are doing and genuinely tends to mind their own businesses! If you're going to walk the Jetty, wear the correct kind of shoes.... tennis shoes would be best. Fishermen fish there as well. It is a shared space with mutual respect! I LOVE THAT!!! They are mindful of you, but you absolutely need to be aware and mindful of them as well! As accidents do and can happen! Be prepared to see dead sea life... (nothing drastic!! But again, maybe not vegan friendly) again it is a shared space! And use extreme caution when reaching the end. It is very uneven and can be dangerous especially on the wet granite rocks. I don't recommend taking any form of special needs especially those whom have a little extra energy that they can't contain. BUT definitely worth doing the short hike for those who can. It's not too horrible of a hike and not too horrible of a level of danger. It's just best to be completely aware of your surroundings so you don't get injured.
My only complaint. I'm ok with scraps being left behind. What came from the earth shall retain to the earth. 💁♀️ Fisherman..... maybe please atleast throw the dead sea life ontop the rocks inside of leaving on the sides of the jetty walkway. I literally lay blankets and towels on the floorboard of my car, as to not drag too much of the outdoors into my car. Putting it lightly and nicely. 😁 Please please just throw it onto the rocks for the other sealife to claim. A dead fish floats, the seagulls can get it, but also... atleast something will get it. 😉 Please take anything that isn't organic home with you! Your trash doesn't need to stay there. Let's keep the Jetty beautiful and enjoyable for all! 🫶🏻
Overall..... I do genuinely 1000% recommend this park...
Read moreWhat an experience!! I recently broke my leg at the beach and then I included going back to beach as part of my recovery. It's been a long journey and I still have a long road ahead of me, but I walk by faith! I chose to go back over there with my husband to walk on the jetty for the very first time and I have absolutely no regrets! The big rocks at the end of the jetty though were challenging for me, but anyone with two legs that can walk would enjoy everything about this place. We got to see porpoises swimming along with ship and got to enjoy seeing all the fisherman posted up along the jetty. It's great to see couples and families enjoying this place. The seagulls are very entertaining, too. You won't regret visiting this place. If you want to barbeque, there's pits there. If you want to sit down and rest after walking all the way down the jetty and back, there's picnic tables to relax. If you want to fish, you are able to. Just be careful at the very end where the big boulders are, especially kiddos. Hold their hands so they don't fall in between the cracks. Watch out for spiders lol!! 😂 If there's people behind you and you want to enjoy walking a bit slower, let them pass and show kindness....
