Patapsco Distilling Company — Attraction in Sykesville

I have given this place three chances to make me feel disrespected and every time I go back, both my partner and I are disrespected by Laurie or Lauren or whatever her name is. I will NEVER return or recommend this establishment to anyone again because of her. Please note if you look a certain way and over tip and purchase products that are sold in the store and still disrespected DO NOT support a business that and if they have employees that encourage other employees to treat paying customers like beggars. DO NOT SUPPORT! This place does have mostly a Caucasian crowd and other places do like EW Beck’s, however I never go anywhere in downtown Sykesville and ever felt this disrespected. I visited this distillery and began admiring the machines, not realizing I had stepped near an “employees only” area. I wasn’t touching anything—just looking. Suddenly, one of the staff members (possibly the owner) started yelling at me about how expensive the equipment was. That reaction felt completely unnecessary.

The place itself is nice, but the customer service was disappointing. To be honest, the liquor isn’t impressive either—both overpriced and underwhelming. Stopped here while in town. My store carries their products but I wanted to have it straight from the source! Awesome! I was there when one guy was putting some bottles together with the labels. So you get see up close them handling their products. The bourbon they just came out with is delicious! Great vodka, which they chill and very nice gin! Friendly people that will go into detail about what they do. I'm hoping for the rye to be bottled again soon. I really want to try...
