Crossroads is a great place to buy locally grown fruits and vegetables from farmers from our community. It's a win-win-win situation where the consumer gets fresh food at reasonable prices (win no. 1), farmers make a living selling in the community (win no. 2) and the small carbon footprint of bringing local food to the community helps mitigate climate change (win no. 3). Other wins include doubling SNAP and WIC coupons, latin music (albeit from a distance due to covid), beautiful covid-prevention masks, locally roasted coffee, pupusas and tacos for carnivores and vegetarians. But I usually buy organic and found only one small vendor who, though not certified (hard to get certified), clearly was farming without massive pesticides. I say “clearly” because the produce isn’t the perfect, shiny, giant stuff you find at supermarkets. But it was unclear with the other farmers what their growing practices are.
