Saveland Supermarket — Attraction in Taylor

Nice variety of foods for a smaller, neighborhood supermarket. Prices are ridiculously high, even when considering it IS an independent, family-owned grocery store. BEWARE ANY "SPECIALS"/"SALES" ON PRODUCE-much of it is bought "on deal" at incredibly low prices-mainly bcuz its on the verge, or just over the verge, of being unsellable. So they buy it and pick the rotten, moldy ones out, then repackage the edible/good looking ones for sale. So, believe me(!)-if theyre selling blackberries, raspberries, etc. at $1/container-u can just about bet they were repackaged after having sat with or next to all the rotten or fuzzy, molded ones. BEWARE ANY PRODUCE ON THE "MARKED-DOWN" TABLE, TOO. Many are near to spoiling, often having been left sitting, unrefridgerated for long periods of time. THEIR MEAT IS SOME OF THE BEST AROUND. Always good, and way better than whats available at chain groceries. Much is packaged in-store by professional butchers in a very clean and sanitary environment. I buy almost all my meat there. (Much of this is 'inside' information and guaranteed accurate). Their staff is stressed out and overworked and it often shows in how they interact with each other and customers. Owners/managers are too often rude, arrogant, aloof and even downright rude. A great place for meat. (Meat prices arent too bad, either). Everything else: over-priced, ridiculously over-priced. Owner never finishes projects, that he starts in the market, like the unfinished floor, almost 10 yrs ago, now the new area unfinished front of the market! It must be that way in his personal life, never finishing things! I understand why prices are so much higher than larger supermarkets, I can deal with that, and is not why I shop there, its for a few specialty items, that are hard to find at other markets, and for that reason, don't mind paying more, also enjoy looking at all the deals at the entrance, then gets much more expensive, as you move just past this area! FINISH THE STORE ALREADY!!....Anxiously waiting on seeing the finish project, along with many other, loyal customers! Looks fantastic so far! I'll add more...

I was in a bit of a hurry grabbing a few groceries and left my brand new, very expensive phone on the counter while paying. I didn't notice it gone for over an hour. My phone has fingerprint lock feature so she wasn't able to open it to make calls but she answered when a family member called and asked them if there was a way to contact me and let me know where my phone was. I got to the store just as they were closing and she said "I ran after you in the parking lot but you were gone." My hectic day would have ended very badly had it not been for this wonderful lady!!
