Champaign Park — Attraction in Allen Park

Use to play at this park as a kid back in the early 70's, aimed for the park with our Epps rockets we built, had a nice small family reunion in the late 90's. They've made regular improvements over the years, roller blade hockey areana, also a couple of baseball fields. Couple of covered areas with a few covered picnic tables, grills to cook on, need to bring your own charcoal and starter fluid. These covered areas are great for sun shade or rain cover. First come, first served, as far as I know. Very good for family gatherings, lots of trees to enjoy your family outings! I haven't been there in years, decades?, I stop in grocery store's parking lot to reply or send texts, across the street, 5 lane road plus two sidewalk away. Maps does this a lot to me, thought Google was suppose to be accurate?? One restaurant keeps showing up, close to two yrs now, when I drive by going 45mph, I've never been there! It's a decently sized, open park conveniently located across the street from a local grocery store and ice cream parlor to easily stock up on summer favorites for planned or impromptu barebue ideas. If you have any hobby aircraft, RC trucks, or need a nice open space to launch fireworks, this is a great park to use. There's plenty of parking space for a large gathering of family and friends, and the area itself is pretty quiet/lowkey. There's usually at least 1 portapotty here, which I thought was pretty convenient considering most of the parks I've been to don't have places to use the restroom unless they're major parks (think Belle Isle in Detroit). This park has so much history to it, located right next to a premiere school; Allen Park High School. This park has some of the most beautiful Oak trees in all of Southeastern Michigan.
