Did you know evidence for the oldest vineyards in the world actually come from the Middle East? At @fazelicellars, BJ Fazeli pays homage to this fact as he blends his Persian heritage with modern SoCal culture. My husband and I have visited this winery and restaurant now three times, twice most recently with friends who are members there. And while I really want to like Fazeli, our experience is always the same – a pricey bill for very average wines and mediocre food. Our first visit was on a slow weekday with only one other table occupied. We waited so long to even be acknowledged that we almost left before getting a chance to order! Our server seemed focused on the other table (perhaps members?), and was inattentive to us even after ordering wines and food. She simply delivered the order to our table with no follow-up, and gave us the bill. When with friends who were members on the two subsequent visits, service was better. In general, I find the wines to be very overpriced for the quality. While they sell several red wine mini half-bottles (375ml or two-6 oz glasses) for $24, full bottles of red start at $55, and the whites are $30+. If you like sweet wines, which I do not, this is the place for you – they have quite a few. I don’t believe they offer any sparkling wines. We’ve also been consistently disappointed with Baba Joon’s food. The beef on the steak & blue flatbread was very dry and chewy, and on our most recent visit, I was only able to detect a few tiny bits of chicken in a fairly flavorless chicken ciabatta club which was mostly comprised of arugula and parsley with some undercooked bacon to boot. So as a Temecula local, I’m sorry to say that Fazeli’s is not a favorite of ours.

My husband and I went with some friends on Easter Sunday. When we arrived, I'll admit, the lack of people there was a bit of a turn off. In hindsight, that was because it was Easter Sunday. :) Go inside and get ready to be blown away! This winery has stunning views and a friendly staff that is truly invested in this place. The tasting was a little over $20. I had never done one before but I don't regret spending the money. Scott was our Bartender and Educator about the wines we sampled. Scott also kept a mental note of what we liked/didn't like so he could make suggestions along the way. Needless to say, the tasting got better as we went. The wine is pricey but there is also a membership that is quite generous with its benefits and discounts. After our tasting, Scott gave us a tour of the Ruby Lounge, a members only area. After that, we signed up for the free membership, grabbed a glass of our favorite wine and hummus, and enjoyed the views this winery had to offer. The experience was amazing and we never felt belittled or neglected by the staff. Will definitely be returning, frequently, and look forward to events that are hosted!

Please read and be careful! It was not a good experience at all, this place is horrendous!! When we got there it was almost dark, the food was absolutely horrible, Persian award wining taco was the most awfu food that I ever tried. Gyro and steak was so bad, the meet had a stale test and smell was so bad, we all got sick in stomach even though we haven’t eaten much of food, I went to ladies room, seems clean but something horrible happened, I didn’t lock the toilet room was just holding it by hand, The door was opening towards me because of the inclination but I kept holding it by hand instead locking it, I was almost about to going out of toilet room and suddenly all the lights went off and the door was shut by it self, I heard the door locked, I was so scared, wasn’t able to see anything, tried to open the lock but the lock seems stocked and wasn’t working, I pushed and pulled the door few times, nothing happened, i started to scream and asking my son and my husband to help, no one could heard me obviously, I just stepped back, and was hopping somebody come after me when they see I am late, suddenly the lock turned on by itself, I open the door and ran away, I am 6 weeks pregnant and was almost about to hearth attacked, my son and my husband were shocked, the man’s room light was all in but I don’t understand what happened to lady’s room!! At that moment, I couldn't think of anything and I just wanted to get out of that horror place, the light never went on again while I was there, It’s four days passed and I’m still feeling sick with pain in my stomach I have never experienced this horrible thing in my...

So this is way overdo, but it's about time I take a minute to recognize the Fazeli's crew. In January, my hubby surprised me with some wine tastings. Fazelis was our first stop and it straight up ruined the rest of our stops (it was that good...). We had Barb helping us and she was so knowledgeable that we immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and the wine and became members. And we never looked back. We drive two hours every other month to come here (it's that worth it) and every time it's been incredible. Today, we had Daniel helping us out and he seriously made our day. Good customer service is hard to find anymore. Add that with the fact that these two know so much about the wine that's it's mind blowing. You seriously cannot find a better place to spend your time. We're well aware of the fact that sometimes wineries can have "snobby" atmospheres...this is the complete opposite. Never have we felt so comfortable somewhere. On a final note, I just want to add that it's very rare to see the owner of a business come regularly and help out. Every time we've come, he's here. And he even cleaned up a child's spill. That says a lot in itself right there. You need to come to Fazelis if you are even remotely in driving distance. Make sure you ask for Daniel or Barb and you MUST try the Saadi and Baba Joon (personal favorites). Their red wine is like nothing you've ever tried in your...
