Miners Rock Shop — Attraction in Tempe

With a curiosity about gem faceting, I asked owner, Sam, if he could recommend a good book giving an overview of the process so that I could decide if that would be something I might enjoy and be able to do. Well, that was 5 months ago and I am now a proud member of Miners Rock Shop Facet Club, cutting and polishing a citrine into a gorgeous trilliant cut, and loving every minute of it! What’s great about Sam’s hands on instruction is that you are constantly learning tricks, tips and advice from his years of gem cutting experience that you just wouldn’t t be able to learn on your own by using even a well written manual. It’s invaluable advice that saves countless hours of trial, error, and possibly even costly mistakes. Sam, and his equally talented metalsmith wife and partner, Sonny, are now both fully committed to teaching courses in their craft, which is a great opportunity if you live in the Phoenix metro area. The new courses are designed to be an inexpensive introduction to learning the dual skills of jewelry and gem creation. The shop, with its casual and fun atmosphere, makes learning what could seem stressful at first just the opposite. I look forward to coming to class every week. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as seeing your very first cut gemstone that you’ve created from a rock! I recently had minors Rock shop make two pieces of custom jewelry as a gift for a friend of mine. I cannot express enough the satisfaction of the whole experience. I gave the artist total and complete artistic freedom to create two of these beautiful pieces of jewelry and she went above and beyond my expectations. Not only am I impressed with her artistic eye I am thoroughly impressed with the customer service. From the beginning ordering the jewelry to the finished product was very timely extremely professional and most importantly affordable. I cannot express enough gratitude to the miners Rock shop for their professionalism. I cannot recommend enough to anyone how pleased and satisfied I am with this vendor. My friends and I discovered this store by pure accident around April of this year and let me tell you, this is one of the best rock stores I've visited.

The folks who run the shop, Sam and Sonny, are some of the nicest people you'll meet. On your first visit, they'll give you a tour of the store and information about the various claims they own. Their tour even involves a really awesome display of fluorescent minerals that are located in their geode cracking room.

Since my friends and I discovered their store, we've visited at least once a week (sometimes more) as their store is conveniently located down the road from our workplace. Even with our frequent visits, there is always something new and exciting happening at the store.

If you're in the area, I would highly encourage you to visit. It truly is a wonderful store with the most welcoming atmosphere, and it's designed in such a way that people of all ages can enjoy it.
