UPDATE: I don't often leave reviews, but Spectrum may be my least favorite company in existence. I elected to cancel my Spectrum service to switch to a better company. I recommend switching to a better company if you can. I switched to Calyx Institute, it has been great for the last 2 months.
As soon as service is canceled they stop allowing access to your account on their website. 2 months later they finally call you for payment for the last month of service. You cannot make this payment online because they shutdown your login access. You have to pay it over the phone. After scheduling a payment over the phone (and I can see the payment on my credit card account), they continue to call me requesting payment! They cannot even handle cancellation well!
Note/Caution: Spectrum requires manual return of their equipment at one of their stores, instead of letting me ship it (this wasn't really an issue for me but if you are moving out of area it could be a big issue, so keep this in mind).
Original Post: Switched to Calyx Institute for unlimited and faster speeds! Spectrum is overpriced home internet with slower wired internet service than I get from 4G wireless SPRINT towers (I wish it was Verizon but that's how bad Spectrum is, not even as good as Sprint 4G). Note: the setup on Calyx can be more complicated if you have more than WIFI 15 devices.
Spectrum doesn't offer pro-rated billing for canceling in the middle of the month. Spectrum doesn't offer discounts unless you bundle TV (is this 1999 or something?). $69/month for speeds that I don't actually get. Spectrum website makes me reset my password every time I log in. When I signed up 2 years ago, they wanted extra for WIFI (even though the function was built into the device, they disabled it unless you paid more) so I had to use my own WIFI router (not a problem for me but a real ripoff for many people).
I cannot wait until Starlink and other 5G services provide more competition. For wired internet at my address, Spectrum is the only offer (no service available from AT&T). Right now there is no motivation for competitive prices or innovation.
With Calyx, I typically get over 60Mb/sec download (upload can be much slower than Spectrum though). Calyx Ping seems okay at 25-50ms. Have now been using Caylx for a month...
Read moreI just got off the phone with the most ignorant agent with Spectrum. Since when do they argue with their customers or random strangers over the phone? Is this a thing now? I was wanting to update my services to a more affordable rate and asking about my billing over the last year, that has changed three times. I wasn't aware that when you get a contract; whether it be a year or another time frame with a company, they were able to change the prices to your bill without your knowledge and move it up $20 each time. My bill within the first year of having this service has changed three times. I'm not talking about the government assistance that I was able to get, that was taken out months ago. I'm referring to the automatic bill pay discount, the internet discount, having a modem discount, and the new customer discount. And then now that the 15th of September is my year anniversary of having Spectrum services, I am now going to pay over $100?! When it started out under $50? Keep in mind, that they pre-charge you for the upcoming month. No pro-rate, and you have not received services for this billing period yet. That is ridiculous and while speaking to the agent, he wanted to get argumentative with me over the subject. Maybe customer service is not his strong suit and he needs to find a better place of employment or get a better attitude towards a customer of his workplace/ a complete stranger. It is clear that he is unhappy in life. I'll make a prayer card for him, hopefully that will help. I don't know who would appreciate being spoken to with that sort of condescending, ignorance. I would not recommend any Spectrum services, unless you want to be surprised every other month with new charges. If you are in a contract with any company, at least hold that same price point for that contract time frame. This is what I was told as a new customer anyway. Unfortunately it was not tye case. Notifications once a month- informing you of your upcoming bill or not, it leaves a bitter taste in one's...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars to spectrum the company I would. I returned my internet equipment 2 months ago. I followed all the proper procedures, kept a copy of my receipt. I later received several text messages saying I had not returned my equipment and that spectrum would be charging me. As soon as that occurred, I called spectrum verified they had received my items and thought the issue was resolved. It's been roughly 2 months since I returned the equipment and today I had a $76 charge on my account because they claim I didn't return the modem. I have spent no less than 2 hours trying to resolve this issue only to be told they have to open a tracking ticket. They cannot locate the item. Because they have lost my modem they will not refund the money and now I am stuck in limbo. I have a copy of the receipt with all the serial numbers for all the items I have returned, I have call records and dates of when I spoke to them and I was assured the last time I talked to them that everything was resolved and they would note it in the account. Surprise, apparently that is not the case and now I'm out $76 because spectrum doesn't know how to do their job. Mind you all the employees were kind, caring and tried to help, but obviously the process is broken. If I have the ability to close my account and change my internet service to anybody else other than spectrum I will definitely be doing that. In addition, if you are considering internet service in the Titusville area, definitely select...
