Several historical buildings are nestled in beautiful well-kept grounds. Visitors are allowed to wander freely over the whole property. Each building is filled with artifacts from a different time period based on when that structure was built. Visitors can feed the goats pigs and horses. Visitors can also enjoy seeing chickens, rabbits, a tortoise and beehives. The houses and outdoor buildings boast an incredible number and variety of artifacts ranging from farm equipment to baby carriages. The docents are very friendly and unassuming. This is a wonderful museum to wander around in with family from small children to the elderly. The buildings all have ramp entrances for strollers or wheelchairs. The property has a gravel road which can be a little bit more challenging to navigate for the mobility impaired. There are plenty of picnic tables and a pavilion for bringing your own lunch. There are also public restrooms. The...
Read moreThis historical farm is so fun to visit! We signed up for Little Farmer day, which is open to toddlers. My little one had the best time. There was coloring, a book reading, a fun craft activity, and a find and count tally sheet of all the animals we found while on the site. The leaders of the day were great at interacting with the littles and even let them hold some baby chicks and pet rabbits. My little one got to feed a horse! It was such a good time. Highly recommend if anyone has toddlers! The site is pretty big at 8 acres, but it is very walkable. The homes onsite are laid out very well and there are restrooms and areas to take breaks if needed. They routinely have 4th graders from Klein ISD come through as part of their curriculum, so the site team is great at teaching to little ones and leading them around the site. Overall we loved this little farm and...
Read moreThis local historical site is only open a very limited amount of hours, but well worth making the effort to attend. Get the full tour package if you have at least 2.5 hrs to spend. If you only have a limited time, pick the area that interests you most.
My favorite was the barn. Lots of agricultural tools, horse equipment, buggy, and more. Test your knowledge and see if you can guess what each tool or equipment in the barn was used for. I especially enjoyed seeing the old saddles, harness equipment, and plows.
The cabins were also well staged to give visitors a chance to see what life was like back then. Tour guides were interesting, friendly, and helpful.
A great place for a visit back in time. Make sure you checkout the road grader, the cotton gin, school house, and the pharmacy! See if you can find the butter mold...
