Recently I took my great grandmothers wedding rings to be checked, sized and cleaned so I can wear them. The staff is Very pleasant but unfortunately the quality of service was extremely poor. After 5 days I received a call that my ring was ready for pick up. I was so excited but When I went in they had forgotten to size the ring and had only fixed the bezels and not fixed the prong that was snagging. A week later I went back and they sized it but it was too small and the prong was still not fixed. Today, After another week of waiting, the ring is still too small and I immediately noticed one of my prongs was missing! I was told that a prong had snapped off but must’ve already been that way. I totally unhappy and not wanting to leave my precious heirloom there for yet another week. I am so disappointed that I have now been three weeks without my rings and still can’t wear it and have a prong missing from an antique that can not be replaced! Not to mention I now have to spend more money to have the prong replaced and sized.
Edit: After working with the manager Mark, who was very helpful, apologetic, and restored my confidence that my ring could be restored to my satisfaction, I was able to go in, have my ring properly sized and had the prongs replaced. Mark and their goldsmith Mike gave me their professional recommendations on how to move forward with work needed on my precious heirloom. I appreciate the lengths to which they went to make this right for me. After being completely disappointed I am impressed with the amount of professionalism Mark had in handling this situation and his ability to make sure I was happy and satisfied with the final outcome. Read moreA few years ago I dropped my wedding ring off at the Brunswick location to be repaired, called to check in a week after it was due to be done and was told it was “not finished” 2 weeks later received a call saying the ring had been “lost” while getting shipped to the Waterville store for the repair. No tracking/receiving information by Day’s employees, no photos of the ring. We were heartbroken, not that the ring was worth a ton of money but more sentimental value than they could ever imagine. Yes there was lots of apologies from J. Carey the owner and ultimately the ring was recreated from wedding photos. Fast forward a year later, the ring had a bent prong so I went to the Brunswick Day’s to request repair, speaking directly to the owner who had dealt with our horrid experience (and if that was me as a business owner and decent human being - not a situation I would ever forget! ). He proceeded to tell me that again, the ring would need to be sent away for repair. I reminded him of our prior situation, asked if they had put any new policies into effect to prevent this type of “loss” from happening again, the answer was not only no... but he also went on to say he had NO idea what I was talking about, no memory of the business misplacing my ring, no memory of having several consultants with my husband and I, going through several wedding photos to recreate what they had lost. They had the wrong size in the computer. Fast forward 2 years, ordered another ring for the wife, and it was guaranteed to arrive before Christmas. Did not arrive until after the holidays, and was shipped to the wrong store. Recieved the ring and was still the wrong size. It was a completely different size from what I had ordered but her ring size was still not updated in the system. I was then told on my third time trying to order said ring that it couldn’t be ordered in her size. I went in and tried to get my money back and it was the same person who I’ve dealt with every visit and had previously requested that I not work with him again.
