I can't say enough good things about this wonderful little park. The people who created it were thoughtful to include art and inspiring quotations painted onto the benches and etched into the concrete, homage to the Native American tribe that has inhabited this area for millennia, informative signage about eagle and river conservation and restoration efforts, and safe and convenient spots for fishing, mooring boats, and launching kayaks. There's even a self-serve kayak rental station and a tiny beach. I often see cabin cruisers and sailboats moored for a night on their way up or down the river, from as far away as Canada. This is a lovely place to sit and look at the river, take in music at the gazebo, walk or run the winding paths, enjoy a gathering in the pavilion, play a game of basketball with friends, watch your children play on the playground, and read (on the pavilion posts) about the artisans who built this town back in the...
Read moreI’ve been landing here on kayak trips for over 20 years. It has slowly changed into a showcase for what Hudson River towns should do. It includes a playground, basketball court, porta potties (behind a permanent beautiful enclosure), boat ramps, benches to sit at and look at the Hudson River, covered pavilion with lots of picnic tables, ev chargers and lots of parking. It even has a small sandy beach for kayakers to land at and not use the boat ramp.
The signage around the park is excellent. Not just “you can’t do this or that” type of signs but signs giving the history of the area. A paved path runs along the water and has identification blocks of the different types of boats you will see passing by from canoes/kayaks to tug boats and tankers. This is fun for children and...
Read moreWent to Riverside Park And Boat Launch in Coxsackie yesterday and it looks amazing. They built a pavilion which has tables underneath and would be great if someone wanted to have a family reunion or gathering. Porta potties which are blocked by a wall. When the water is low you can see the old ship skeleton . Or you can bottle search on the beach at low tide. A old garbage barge either sunk or was sunk back in the 1930s or something like that. I found bottles a few years ago back from the 1940s.Feeling like boat watching? Well you can sit and watch the large barges or ships sailing by. It is very relaxing and very...
