Cow Meadow Park — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

Since the Village of Freeport took over Cow Meadow Park, there have definitely been some noticeable improvements. The park is a bit cleaner, and you can tell there's been an effort to maintain the grounds better than in years past. The water views and natural setting still make it a peaceful spot for a walk or to sit by the bay. However, there's still a lot of work to be done. Some of the facilities are outdated or in need of repair, and certain areas of the park could use more regular upkeep. The playground and restrooms could benefit from upgrades, and it would be great to see more recreational programs or community events held here to bring more life back into the space. Overall, it’s moving in the right direction, but Cow Meadow Park still has plenty of potential waiting to be unlocked. Hopefully, Freeport continues investing in it so it can become the gem it’s...

I personally love this park, I always have. It's huge and although it's completely out of the way, it is always lively with families in the summer. I've been dreaming about a community garden here for years.

However, this park is owned by the County and not the Village of Freeport which leads to it being sorely neglected. The entire park took a HUGE hit during Superstorm Sandy in 2012 and the only bit of the park that has gotten any love is the trail, which was refurbished by scout troops. This park has sooooo much potential. i just wish the village can see the beauty and make it someplace people would drive from afar to come see . the playground definitely needs so sprucing up. they need to add more attractions .maybe get some food trucks out an ice cream truck in the summer. they closed off the pier which is sad . would love to see that opened up again. i would like to see more equipment's for the kids , it just looks dull. i never been to the restrooms so i have no idea how that looks like. The dog park is cool , it isn't to big. i believe i only saw two BBQ grills there - so they should add more. theirs so much ideas...
