Lido West Town Park — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

Great little beach that's always less crowded than Jones Beach. The beach itself would be 5 stars. However, beware of the westernmost part of the beach. Even though there is no signage, apparently this beach is for surfers only. I wasn't the only one who found this out the hard way. The lifeguards kept removing people from the water because they weren't surfing. A simple sign would remedy this. Would that be so hard? Anyone who goes to the beach with lots of stuff knows what a pain it would be to be all settled in only to have to move. Please put up signs so people know where they can...

I’ve been coming to this beach for the better part of 27 years. At first it was less crowded because no one knew of it. But now you have to get there early or the parking lot fills and they close it. There’s a main house with a concession stand that sells typical beach food, outdoor showers to rinse off and bathrooms. The beach and dunes were just redone at the end of last season so there’s a new wooden ram and the beach is much bigger from dredging.
