Brought a Lionel LionChief+ in for repair as it was derailing. They took it in and was told would be about a week. Two weeks later I called and they said " Oh yeah it's here, it's done. Thanks for not calling that it was done. Paid $45.00 for repair, No problem, thought fair price. Brough it home, no change still derailing. Went back store, was told "we don't repair modern Lionel!" Took out receipt and said then why did you charge me. Silence. After 35 mins of two employees just yapping with a friend in the store, one of them starts to look online for issues with my model and finally says it's the traction tires that Lionel packaged the wrong size with the trains when shipped. So they did nothing and found the problem and offered not refund for not repairing. Even worse when I ordered myself the replacement traction tires from Lionel and went to install, I found their "repair" person stripped that threads that holds the motor to the truck leaving motor very loose. To sum up they took $45.00, Fixed nothing, said they don't fix those when brought back, Ignored me for a 1/2 hour, Offered nothing when the repair was not done, Stripped the threads making me buy additional parts to complete repair. I can totally believe the other low reviews, and as for being a courteous place to shop, as all one stars are right on in that department. Now at a train show, I was told by a manufacturer's Rep. that they have heard the same complaint from other customers, and it seems the place is not the same as when older generation was more regularly there. Enough said. To follow up, no, I'm not confusing with another train-shop, as if there are so many in Nassau County. I think I know the town of Freeport as I lived there for over 20 years! You can get the same product for $120 cheaper everywhere else. I asked about a new train coming out and the response was, " how would I know". What kind of customer service is that. Save your money and support other hobby shops. Not a rude overpriced one. The way they run their store is horrible. They are so rude.
To the shops reply: I went with a few friends to your shop. I did not know you have to personally speak to me. I was not aware that your shop personally greats everyone and asks for their name. Read moreI thought I finally found a place that I can go to for my own personal needs and for me as a technology teacher. What a let down... I went in for a school rocket project for my students. Bought a bunch of rocket stuff and blatantly asked the clerk if I could return it after their 7 day policy because I won't know if it will work out by then. The clerk said no problem as long a nothing is opened. I even made it clear that it could be a month and he said just don't open it. So I bought it. A month later I go to return everything and the owner flat out says no it's past 7 days. I explained the situation and told him that school funds were used and that I could get written up. He laughed in my face and what school is that? This is one of the worst business owners I ever had to deal with. The lack of compassion and understanding is insane.
