I've been here quite a few times. The food during those times were really good. My last three most recent visits to this restaurant is what has caused me to no longer frequent Chevere.
My husband actually introduced me to Peruvian food and I've been hooked ever since. When I came across this nice quaint restaurant, I was ready to claim this as my go to spot for Peruvian food. I alway order take out. The first time, the food was spot on. The second time, the food was ok, for some reason, the chicken, if at all possible was a bit dry, but it was still good. My last visit here eliminated any chance of me ever coming back.
I always order the special with the 1/4 chicken with rice and beans. As I was waiting, I happed to look towards the back where the guy who was cutting up the vegetables was located. What I saw completely made me reconsider even paying for my order, but I didn't order any salad or anything, so I stuck with it. The guy in the back began to cut up the vegetables, he had no gloves on and I'm not even sure if he washed his hands, but he looked at the knife he was using. I guess he saw something on it and instead of washing it off or using something clean to wipe it off, he had the nerve to wipe it on his black shirt like it was nothing. That just completely turned me off and made me look at things differently. So yeah, I won't be coming back. EVER! I definitely would not reccomend this...

As a seasoned diner aficionado, I ventured into CHEVERE POLLOS A LA BRASA with high hopes, only to be met with an unmitigated disaster from start to finish. From the moment I stepped through the door, it was evident that this establishment was in dire need of an overhaul.
The real horror show began when "Vicky" sauntered over to take our order. Not only was she disinterested she kept conversing in Spanish to the other works saying inappropriate things not understanding that there was a possibility I understood exactly what she was say.
To add insult to injury, Vicky’s service was abysmal. She was nowhere to be found when I needed a refill on my drink, and when she did grace me with her presence, she was downright rude. I asked for a few to go containers and she made it seem as if it was a problem to do so. It was as if she was doing me a favor by taking my money in exchange for subpar food and dismal service she rolled her eyes. Thinking she deserved a tip.
In conclusion, CHEVERE POLLOS A LA BRASA is a culinary catastrophe that should be avoided at all costs. Save yourself the disappointment and dine elsewhere. As for Vicky herself, I can only hope that he finds a new line of work where she lack of enthusiasm and hygiene standards won't be a detriment to...
Read moreI gotta start with the atmosphere, then I’ll talk about the food poisoning. Atmosphere: The place smells really bad the moment you enter the restaurant. There’s also no AC, which I couldn’t believe, especially in this heat wave. I don’t know how the workers survive, and how the food can stay fresh. Also the workers aren’t the most friendliest and their prices were outrageous. I’m Peruvian and been to many Peruvian restaurants here on LI, they have the highest prices I’ve seen. Food: Well, as you can see from the beginning, I got food poisoning. I ordered special #2 which contained chicken, beans, and rice. When I tell you I had the worst stomach pain that night, it was horrible. Ended up having diarrhea all night. My dad also did since he got the same dish as me. I will NEVER step foot in here again. I wonder if Google has an option to black list a spot because I don’t want to see it pop up as a food option. Gosh they left me traumatized. Please go to Inti instead, you won’t end up in...
