Update: After reading the shops response I figured I'd correct some issues with their version of events. According to google I was there from 12:13 until 2:38, I stayed this long because I was told the rate was 50% or close to that for cash. It was not 60 it was 16 that I was offered. The Yawgmoths Wills were worth 300 alone. It wasn't a pile of cards I brought them in in 4 row card boxes as well as in original deck boxes. The majority were Mirage, and the majority of the cards selected were revised and unlimited. No one forced you to select the cards you did. But 50% is 50% I wasted two and a half hours because apparently at this shop 20% is also 50%.
Run your store however you want, but people should be forewarned they're going to get lowballed in-store and then belittled online.
Original Review: Went in the other day with a large collection of very old magic cards and spent hours with them while they went through the cards. They told me they did trade-ins at 50% credit and a little less for cash. Several hours later it came time to total it all up and the person evaluating my cards steps out of eat shot and whispers a bit to another employee tells me he's gotta run it by his boss.
This guy comes up to me and says I'll be honest with you I just spent 80 grand on this big event coming up so I'm cash poor. I told him that I needed cash because the whole point was that I needed gas money to get back to the city... He says "We'll help you get some gas money were not monsters" he then proceeds to offer me $16 cash and 200 in credit ..... For $925 worth of cards.... They wasted my time and tried to rip me off. They wouldn't tell me how much my cards were worth like other shops do. I had to go home and scan just to find out how much they were trying to rip me off
Idk not my kind of shop with...
Read moreCharging Near mint pricing on MP quality card. If I didn't need it for a tournament soon I would have waited to pick it up. Card has wear all around it. Definitely only come here if you absolutely can't wait for something to ship in. Update: went in today and talked with who I assume is the owner and he told me he priced the card at HP. While still higher then I expected definitely one I would have held off on. He did offer to return the card and give me my money back but I do still need it. So in that matter I consider it unresolved. The staff while quiet is helpful to the customers that came in. Overall it's your choice wether to go here or not. Personally after these last 2 trips I can say I probably won't be back unless I absolutely have to.
Edit: went back last night and had a good time. The times on Google don't seem to truly reflect what time there open to. The card selection is not bad, compared to other shops in the area. Granted couldn't find anything off my current list. That's on me tho and being picky. They did have a color of sleeves I've been looking for, ended up buying them. Overall compared to my first time here, I have to say this trip was much better.
Further Update: All I can say is this is easily on the of the best if not the best game store in the poughkeepsie area. The staff after going in couple of times is super nice and helpful. The selection after looking at it more and not being as picky. They have a amazing selection. My wife and I are both big commander players, modern players, and legacy players. We might be moving to the area and I've been looking for a good LGS and this one is definitely the best in this area that...
Read moreI was recommended this place by a friend. I came all the way up from Southeastern PA to check out this shop as I heard good things about it. I was gonna be in Poughkeepsie for the day and decided to pop by. I was assisted by several staff members who were very polite, friendly , and knowledgeable. As a MTG player I felt like a kid in a candy store. In my local area I’m accustomed to seeing maybe 2-4 display cases of mostly obscure powerful cards that aren’t useful to alot of deck themes. Upon entering this store I was surprised and ecstatic to see several dozen cases full of staple cards. They had binders of mostly every magic set. I spent about 3 hours digging through binders grabbing things I couldn’t find in any of the 5 shops I frequent in my home area. The staff member who assisted me was very helpful. I felt so bad throwing an entire decklist on them. They reassured me I was fine and didn’t give me any sense of growing impatient . I paid a very good price for them and was very pleased with my experience. I traded some cards in towards my overall purchase total and feel very pleased that I got a good deal. I turned 7 cards I wasn’t using into a very powerful reserved list card. I left with 75% of a new deck done and found several staple cards for my other decks. The players who were at the shop were also very nice and welcoming of me into their community. I’d definitely make the 2 1/2 hour trip again for the wonderful experience I had. Thanks a lot guys! You’re an...
