I think I’m going to take a game on break. I’ve been to both locations a multiple times. The one in riverhead I drive over 40 minutes to get to. Went there last week with my son and his friend. What really pissed me off was that the owner accused me of scamming the admission price and demanded to see my bracelet while playing pinball. Of course I had one because I paid. I’m 50 years old pal. I’m not going to scam paying 15 dollars to play a couple of video games. Best part is I saw the owner let in his friends without paying at all.
Other things that are super annoying
While usually not a problem some teenagers/families will sit on a cabinet for way to long. One family stayed on nfl blitz for 50 minutes. No one seems to care.
Paper Boy still doesn’t work right. You can’t accelerate at all.
Adults who aren’t playing love to sit on all the couches (on their phones) that are meant for kids to play consoles.
Hours seem to change weekly. Was told the place opened at 12 (via phone ) one day. When I got there it opened at 3.
People put tons of credits on multiplayer games and then bail on the games. As a result you have multiplayer games pretty much unplayable because you can’t reset the games that someone left in progress.
The nostalgia is great. Place is understaffed and customer service needs some help. Is it so hard to get a working phone number at the...
Read moreMy family and I went a few weeks ago (see promo picture attached) we went because they had a promotion to hold customers cell phones at the front and would grant you admission. The major concern I have as a parent is that the owner of Game On Retro Arcade is Tristan Whitworth (I found out his name after the fact) decided to text my daughter (who is only 16!) from her own phone from the front desk. He said "I own this place, & can let you in anytime with an emoji wink". My daughter said he was occasionally looking at her while she was trying to play some games!! Again my daughter is only 16, this is to me not only a violation of someone's privacy but extremely inappropriate!! We won't be going back to this or any of his other locations on Long Island. Other parents intending on going especially with kids underage please either reconsider or be on alert from his actions!
As I research this further I come to find out that Tristan Whitworth owner of Game On simply can't accept any bad reviews. After reading your response to this review I've decided on my own investigation. It is very evident from some of Tristan Whitworth other bad reviews (go look from his lowest ratings / reviews). Simply see his responses to those bad reviews, he always claims to be the victim. All of my reviews good or bad are all bonafide. He not only runs a bad business but has bad...
Read moreI've been going to the Game On stores and their Smithhaven Mall arcade for years, so I was very happy to hear they were doing so well and expanding even further with this new arcade in Riverhead. Tristan is a great guy with a passion for helping fellow gamers find the nostalgia they're looking for, whatever your particular favorite old-school flavor may be, so you can both re-live what you loved as a kid and share it with your own children.
Game On also consistently gives back to the community and makes us proud to support them. (Check out their Facebook page for some of the kids and causes they've supported in the past.) No matter which location you choose to visit, you're sure to have a good time. They have everything you remember, from all the Pac-Mans, and several different pinball machines to air hockey and the Simpsons and TMNT arcade games. They even have Gamecube and Nintendo Wii games, which now qualify as "vintage" (I'm old).
You can easily spend hours at a Game On arcade, and be sure to stop by one of their retail store locations if you need a heavy dose of good old-fashioned gaming at home. (They were even able to fix my NES, the same one I've had since I was 10 that I was sure was just a doorstop by now.) I'm so happy to hear they're doing so well, especially post-Covid times, and we wish them all the luck and support...
