Strangest Experience. Going back several weeks I located a vehicle I wanted to purchase and asked for certain alterations to be made. I was told the upgrades could be made in a few days and that the vehicle would be ready on that timeline. I offered to pay a deposit to show that I was completely serious. I was told that will not be necessary... After several days I was asked for a copy of my driver's license which I provide. My license is from Connecticut and I discussed with Kate that the vehicle is to be registered in Connecticut. The conversation had no ambiguity and it was clearly conveyed to the sales person that the vehicle is to be registered in the state of Connecticut. Several more days went by and the car had still not left the lot to have the alterations made.. Having not paid a deposit, I became slightly concerned as I assumed at this point that I would already have the vehicle based on the storytelling of Kate the salesperson. At that point I already found my own financing and also asked the dealership to pull my credit to see if their offer would be more competitive. We did not discuss which way we would proceed. Eventually I am told the vehicle is leaving the yard to have alterations made and that it would be ready by the end of the week. At this time I take out an insurance policy on the vehicle and send the dealership a Connecticut policy with ID card and the associated binder. I am told the vehicle will be ready to pick up at 5:00 PM on Thursday of that week. I schedule my day around picking up the vehicle and leave the city to drive three hours to pickup the vehicle. Around midday I am told that the vehicle has to be registered to New York because of how they processed the paperwork and that I would also need to get a New York insurance policy. I tell them this is unacceptable and that this is not what was discussed. The salesperson then continually stated that because she filed for financing with my local Summer rental address there was nothing that could be done. I called their financing company Chrysler Capital and was explicitly told that this could be changed as no actual contract existed. I also notified the dealership that I was happy to use my own financing through USAA that I was already approved for if for some reason they found it impossible to correct their paperwork. I am told the owner of the dealership Bill Mullen will call me back that day. Bill does not call me back and a day later when I do finally get him on the phone it becomes apparent that he is not even really aware of the actual details. Instead of listening he starts to curse at me and tells me a completely incorrect timeline of how documents were submitted and appears to think I was somehow being dishonest or wasting his time.
Lets be clear Bill. I wanted the vehicle, I clearly communicated with the salesperson that the vehicle was to be registered in Connecticut. Every document I supplied in the timeline supports that. Your sales person Kate lied to you to save face after screwing up the paperwork, but that is simply not my problem. Registering the vehicle in New York would have added significant additional costs, required unnecessary time at the DMV, a second and completely unnecessary New York insurance plan and required a double payment in taxes to both New York and Connecticut. If you think that is logical or acceptable feel free to let me know. Kate's error and failure to deliver the vehicle also meant that she wasted significant amounts of my time and money. I left work to drive three hours in order to pickup the vehicle, I paid for an insurance policy that is now useless and I also had the vehicle scheduled to be on the road the following morning. Instead I had to scramble find alternative🦉🦉🐤 transportation methods for what had been planned for the vehicle. Those methods💙 cost me $1,500.00. Instead of correcting the documents, Bill directed several expletives in CBC Do my direction. Bill y🚀👶🏻👶🏻💿🦅🚀🚀🟡🚀☺️🥌🌶😋☺️🕎 your behavior in response was deplorable. Shame on you!j Ca avvvccc. ...
Read moreOUTSTANDING Customer Service, above and beyond! As I am a transplant from CT my Jeep Wrangler wasn't purchased from Mullen Motors. After moving to LI and hearing rave reviews about them I decided to make an appointment for my car inspection and tune-up. Not only was it easy to schedule, the wait time was short and I was given updates as to exactly what needed to be done as well as the cost. I've been going back ever since for all of my servicing and I would recommend Mullen Motors to anyone wanting to be treated like family. They are the best, and I'll always remain a loyal customer. Additionally, when it's time to buy another vehicle I'll surely head to Southold, (and I live in Nassau County!) DEFINITELY worth the trip! Sincerely. J Porter, An extremely...
