I have thought long and hard about this review. It appears since 2020 Wegmans has changed their corporate attitude towards their customers. They started on a campaign to minimize personal interactions with customers. They removed the salad and meal deli where you could taste a salad before buying and have your meal assembled according to your personal preferences. Then they started adding self checkout. I don’t recall putting in my application to work as a checkout at their store. So they put someone out of a job and don’t pay me to do the same job. Then they started increasing the prices for premade sandwiches to twice what they cost 3 years ago. It is now cheaper to buy good Chinese takeout then to buy a pre made dinner at Wegmans. Their premade family portions such as pulled pork have doubled. As have most cakes and pastries. On top of that they have removed the icing from the side of many of their cakes but have not reduced the price. They told me they would charge me extra to put the icing back on the side of the cake. A single slice of cake now costs what their smallest cake use to cost. They continue to add more self checkouts which cause theft to increase and reduce jobs. If you want to pay the highest price for takeout food in the area go to Wegmans. They have no empathy for the challenges their customers face in this period of inflation. They no longer care for their customer’s financial dilemma. They have become arrogant and greedy, interested only in lining their pockets at our expense. Shame on you Wegmans! If you want to pay more for less, go to Wegmans. In the past Wegmans had excellent Rotisserie Chickens. I just finished eating an apparently roasted chicken they now have. Both my partner and I thought it was the worst chicken we have had in this area. It was barbeque flavor. I had no flavor at all. It tasted more like a boiled chicken and the skin was not crisp and brown. Big fail !!!

Wegmans is still fantastic when the meat and seafood departments are open. But my goodness, so much of the store has taken a nosedive. Made ground veal burgers (similar to the type of package in my image) and it had pieces of bone that were nearly an inch in length. I’ve never seen this before, and have never experienced so many bone shards in ground meat. This is a constant issue with their prepackaged ground meat. Their sub shop is a disaster. Used to be excellent and loved by my friends and family. The meat is dull and the bread is soulless. They no longer slice their meat in the store but receive it pre-sliced, hence the added water and preservatives. I bought a jar of caviar months ago, white sturgeon if I remember, and it made me violently ill. No idea what happened there, but I’ll just order caviar online from here on out. The store, while massive, has limited selection. Anymore, I find it easier to just head to a Weis. And for anyone who remembers how nasty the Giant used to be, that is saying something. If you told my wife and I that we would come to strongly prefer the Endwell or Endicott Weis over Wegmans, we would have never believed you. Overall, what they do well, they do very well. However, what goes wrong is so unthinkably wrong you wonder who they are hiring.

What can I say? I LOVE WEGMANS!!! And the East Ave. location may be one of my favorites yet (besides Pittsford and Marketplace of course). Endless selections in their Prepared Foods section from hot, steamy pizzas; made-to-order salads, a variety of sushi, dozens of flavors of hot drinks and smoothies at their Coffee Bar-- the list could go on and on-- and again-- that's just the Prepared Foods side. Not to mention the aisles of groceries that accommodate just about anyone's needs such as Gluten-Free, Kosher, Organic, and Vegan (to name a few), all at affordable prices (and it's even better when you have the Wegmans app and can clip digital coupons!). Wegmans' lives up to one of it's core values of "Incredible Customer Service." The employees throughout the floor and on the Front End never fail to disappoint with their willingness to always cheerfully help a customer.

Wegmans is just fantastic all around! They have literally EVERYTHING, although some things are a little costly, others are the same as Amazon or Walmart (like femine products, razors, and pasta/spices and soups and "Simply" juices). I love it here , and their hot food *including* the serve yourself buffet is always coming out new and steaming/cold fresh. Fresh sushi (on demand if needed), AMAZING fresh and on demand pastries, cakes, pies, AND FLOWERS. Their sandwich shop makes the best subs with the BEST sub-sauce 👌 everything is fresh and perfect, and if you're not satisfied, they are willing to work with you! I want to ship their food to my friends lol.
