TL;DR - good gym, sadly premium membership for pool area specifically is not paying for itself, details below.
*edit, responding to Chuze response on my review - no, actually, it is NOT just two days a week. This has been long confirmed at my local locations. Please don’t respond with inaccurate information as though this is all in any way my fault.
Get your information cleared up clarified and most importantly, coordinated between yourself and corporate and all your individual locations. Stop having only morning classes, and stop having classes at the same times at the only two Chuze locations in town with an actual pool. You guys are not inspiring confidence for me to stick around when you respond to my review with MORE inaccurate information. Ridiculous.
Original review:
Don’t come here in the morning time if you need to make use of the pool/hot tub / sauna / steam room area. Steam room is either broken, not reading the temperature correctly or is working but the sound of it working is a deafening 90+ decibels (yes it’s been measured).
The swimming pool has morning classes from 3, to now 4, to maybe more times a week (from what I hear), all in the mornings. At least half of these classes need to be switched to early afternoon - evenings. Even it out, guys. Seriously.
Sometimes the entire pool and hot tub area is 100% shut down because of biohazard human waste, which I hate to say, is a common theme for many attendees of the aquafit morning classes where they completely take over the pool and kick you out. Expect some biohazard Incontinent waste every 2-3 months to shut down the area for up to several days sometimes - since many times this number changes.
Does it matter you’re paying $25 premium a month for membership? Of course not. You’ll still be booted from the pool. Are there any notifications ever sent out when the pool or hot tub is closed? Nope.
Their schedules for everything are constantly shifting - that’s assuming everything is working though, of course. The hot tub is also shut down in the mornings (or is it the afternoon now? Between the grant and oracle Chuze locations and their ever changing schedules for aquafit classes and hot tub cleanings and randomly broken steam rooms, it’s a bit difficult for me to keep track of all the chaos).
I don’t want to have to call my gym every single time I’m planning to head out there just to make sure everything im paying them money to use is actually USABLE.
Unfortunately I forgot to do that today, having not been able to sleep because of muscle spasms from a twisted broken vertebrae over a decade ago, thus wasted yet another trip of time money gas and energy making it out there for no damn reason at all. The only way through my physical therapy is swimming and soaking - and Chuze is no longer reliable for me in this regard.
It also took them over a month to fix the men’s swimsuit dryer in the locker room. Oh also, the sauna will vary from 120-140f. They revamped the entire sauna area and seemingly made it better … but kept the same old broken down doors that DO NOT CLOSE all the way - why can’t you seal the SAUNA doors?? NO proper sauna heat is actually maintained. Yikes.
I like the staff. I have no problems with them; this is a bad review for REGIONAL management (not this single location) and CORPORATE Chuze CUTTING CORNERS and who are thus not providing the correct maintenance and repairs for the ever breaking devices (or offering a consistent schedule for ).
If you go swimming in the afternoons and after (or need a gym for anything other than a reliable pool area), these guys can probably...

I love Chuze, but I'm looking forward to their newer, bigger location. New Review:
UPDATE: The new location is open, and I'm super disappointed. I don't think it was ready to open.
Here's why two stars:
The cardio equipment that I used didn't have the sound synced with the TV yet. Big bummer.
The fitness floor is open and bright, but it's a little too bright, too loud and not intimate. I'd love a quiet place to stretch and maybe even meditate, but there isn't that place.
The pool won't open for like two months?
The staff seems untrained. Lots of new people, few answers to questions. Some really great staff, like the one who showed me around. Some people were like, "I dunno, I just started."
Some of the fitness equipment is the old stuff, seemingly cobbled together. And yet I couldn't find an elliptical with non-moving arm thingies. :(
The televisions are positioned poorly - for instance, if you want to see CNN, you can only be on certain cardio equipment. And they have FoxNews. I don't care - fine, be grossly partisan. But at least balance it with the equally cringe-worthy MSNBC. Otherwise, it just feels creepy and subtlely pushy of partisan ideas and state propaganda.
I thought the Chuze Cinema would be cool. It wasn't. First, it was hot and muggy - no fans?! Second, it was so dark that I couldn't see the equipment to figure out the settings - and the darkness doesn't feel safe. If I had an accident, how long would it take for someone to notice. It's loud, and the sound is so distorted that I couldn't understand the movie - turning on subtitles would be amazing! Also - the only place to see the movie info is a tiny box on a calendar near the door. Posting the name of the movie, how far along it is, the MPAA rating, etc. would be nice. Great concept - very poor execution
Because I have a new phone and hadn't been in a while, when I went, I tried to reset my app and rewards and it took 45 minutes to do. First, the WIFI was down, second, the app is clumsy and requires two sets of logins and passwords and the building gets poor data reception.
The smoothie-bar looks cool. Except for the sign saying basically, "never ask us for ice". WTF? Just charge for a bag - charge like $19. But a sign saying, "nope"... nope.
My biggest complaint about the old place was the tiny, cramped locker rooms. Guess what the new place has? Yep - tiny cramped locker rooms. Oh, and the germ-magnets... faucets and soap dispensers you have to physically touch. And the biggest germ-magnet - those hand dryers that spread fecal bacteria with fans - yep. Ew... e-coli baby!
Good stuff:
It's super big. Roomy. Tons of equipment.
The new fitness studio looks amazing.
The childcare looks awesome.
The idea behind the cinema - super cool.
The paint, color scheme and branding - superb.
Conclusion:
I want to go back in a few weeks when there has been time to sort out any problems and see how things are going. I'm hoping to be able to add...
Read moreI joined Chuze Fitness Grant and Craycroft,Tucson, AZ about 8 months ago. I enjoyed my initial 7 day pass and decided to get a premium membership. I enjoyed the overall environment and the friendly staff at this location. But today something has happened that I believe requires your immediate attention. Today, I decided to go for Hydromassage which is my usual routine. I realized that there was only one person at the bar and he seemed busy. So, I , being unaware of the gym policy, activated one of the hydro chairs on the computer. This computer was on the bar side of the gym and in plain sight of the said employee. I understand that this was a poor decision on my part and I should have waited for the employee to activate it for me. He immediately told me in a rude tone that this is against policy and his specific words "what establishment can you go in and do this?". I told him that he seemed occupied and I did not want to burden him. It seemed a trivial thing to activate a massage chair with a click when I had the hydro massage paper slip in my hand. He immediately replied that I was arguing. Anyways, I had activated chair 1 and this said employee said " you will go on chair 4 not 1". I asked why? since all the chairs were unoccupied. He told me because he said so and told me to leave because I was apparently arguing. I refused to leave without an explanation for his rude behavior. Then I went into the hydro massage room and lied down on chair 4 and this employee disabled that chair. I found this behavior really disturbing and unprofessional. It was evident that he was trying to flaunt his authority excessively. When I went back to the front desk he said "Now you will leave!". I protested this rude and disrespectful behavior to another employee at this location. I have enjoyed my time at this location and made friends with people in the gym and the staff members and never once have I experienced such an unprofessional behavior within the premises by staff or customers. I was told by another employee that the said gentleman is "hard headed, strict with the policies. Finally I went back to the front desk and apologized to him and again tried to explain that I was not aware of the gym policy and was just trying to lessen his burden. Again, he was rude, unapologetic and authoritative. I hope you will take this matter into consideration and improve the professionalism of the staff members and may add a touch of courtesy in their behavior. This is not a decent manner to treat the customers. This gentleman had a mustache, long hair and was said to be the lead supervisor. Time to look for a more...
