UPDATE 04/02/24
Due to life circumstances I had to move out of state but I recently visited Tucson and had the pleasure of returning to The Quesadilla FOUR times in five days. I am extremely happy to see that the menu is basically the same with an amazing addition.
First of all, they expanded into a side unit of the strip mall, offering more seating and a second salsa bar.
Secondly, they added Carnitas as a meat option to their menu. I was hesitant to try it because Carnitas is my absolute favorite Mexican meat preparation and I don't know if the Sonoran method of preparation is as good as the traditional Mexican method. There were some other taco shops around town that had a not-so-good version of Carnitas so I was a little worried.
Either way, I tried it and holy crap... it's perfect! Slow cooked to perfection and then crisped up on the griddle as God-or-whatever intended. So juicy and crispy and flavorful! Just a dash of salt and my favorite salsa and I was in paradise! I couldn't recommend it more but keep the Carnitas to tacos only. The cheese in the quesadillas takes the crisp out of the Carnitas. It's still delicious, but it takes that little extra amazing out of the equation.
Only negative I had during my visits to The Quesadilla was they were out of limes one of the times I went. No biggie, I came at the tail end of the lunch rush that day.
The Quesadilla is still my favorite place for tacos in Tucson and I tell literally everyone I know. I got my entire family going here. Don't walk, run! Go now! You won't be disappointed!
For the last two years I have been having a deep love affair with The Quesadilla.
I worked nearby and went two times a week. I kept going after COVID initially hit, when I could only do take out through the front window. I happily out of the back of my car. I went here so often my wife got jealous because she loves the food here too.
I've tried all the tacos. I've had most of the quesadillas. The carna asada is amazing. So is the pastor. But what keeps me coming back is their pollo. So flavorful, so juicy, so tender. The day I tried their chicken bacon quesadilla I cried a little tear of of happiness.
And the salsas are awesome. My favorites are the roasted green chili and the cilantro salsas.
Please, if you love good Mexican food, go eat here. Give this company your money because they absolutely deserve it. I want The Quesadilla to make it through COVID restrictions so that I can go back in during a more stress-free time to enjoy the...
Read moreWe usually look at reviews to determine where we eat out. Based on previous reviews all attesting to Quesadillas tasty food we decided to check them out. We came in an hour before it was to close. As soon as you walk in there is a counter where you place your order. The young lady who took our order saw us but didn’t greet, seeing she was busy we waited about 5 minutes. She took our order: each of us ordered a quesadilla, a couple of tacos and a drink. She asked if we cared for cilantro and onions - we all clearly said yes! We then turned to find a seat. The sitting area and soda machine were awkwardly placed in a small room. Our food arrived quickly - and was tasty! The quesadillas came with a bean taco on the side(?), and the extra regular tacos all fit on a small basket - no cilantro or onions. The portions were not what we expected considering the cost. The quesadillas that came with a bean taco was $8.50. We all opened our quesadillas when they arrived to see what was actually in them as they appeared rather flat on the small flour tortilla. The sprinkling of meat and cheese was hardly noticeable. And what was the bean taco about? Ugh. Okay - I get the cost of “things” but this was too little for too much. My suggestion would be: Leave out the bean taco that comes with the quesadilla and put that cost into the stuffing because that is subject of the business. Make the plate brighter with the some fresh veggies like thinly sliced lettuce/cabbage - yes, you can clearly ask the customer if they want it like the onion/cilantro - but clearly make it an option . There is Pico at the salsa bar as well as other salsas but give me a reason to go to it by lowering the cost of the chips. Looks like I am...
Read moreNo complains. It has been a long time since I read the good reviews and I wanted to try this place. Finally I went yesterday. It was really good. We had a friend from México DF visiting and she was complaining that she hasn't found a good taco al pastor in the area of California that she lives. She was saying that she is not trying tacos al pastor anymore. Well, The Quesadillas offer tacos al pastor and I decided to buy one so she could try it, finally she decided to order one and... she really liked it, she even ordered another one 😁 so, I'm guessing that's a good prove that they serve really good food. We tried the Birria, Jass, carne asada and Al pastor tacos and they were all delicious. They also have a big variety of salsas. They have a Jamaica salsa that is delicious. And they have a pineapple salsa that you can put on top of the tacos al pastor because they don't put a piece of pineapple on it. I want to come back and try a few more tacos and the hot dogs. Also, they make a mistake on my order and gave me two birria tacos instead of on birria and on Jass. So, they brought me a Jass taco and I kept the one extra. Like I said, no complains.
This is an update on my review. I had to take out one star. I went today and the food, again, was really good. No complaints about that. My complaint is that they don't have cups for dine in so, if you want water you have to buy a bottle. It's a smart way not to give refills, I guess. But, for them to save money I have to...
