Today I went to the mosque and arrived about 40 minutes before the adhan. I managed to sit in the first row. A while later, an elderly man came and told me to leave my spot because it was “his place.” I was surprised, because I had come early and sat there before anyone else.
I also noticed that many people does this in the first row all the time, as if the spot belongs to them permanently, even if they don’t come early. To me, this does not seem fair and I believe it is not correct in Islam.
