I had a red eye cancelled out of SeaTac, so needed a last min hotel at 1am. I checked with the representative various times that there was a free airport shuttle that I could take to/from the hotel, even at this late hour. She confirmed that this was the case each time I asked, and again before she charged my card I clarified that I ONLY wanted to purchase this room if there was a free shuttle to pick me up from the airport and return me to the airport the following day. When I arrived at the courtesy phone at the shuttle pick up location and called, I was alerted that the shuttle was broken and I would have to pay for an Uber to get to the hotel AND back to the airport the next morning. I tried to cancel my reservation, but was told that it was impossible to do so. It was nearing 2am. I called the national Ramada number where I made the booking and tried to cancel that way and they would not help me, but I could talk with the hotel manager when I arrived to get the Uber ride reimbursed. Due to the late hour and lack of options, I took an uber to the hotel.
It ended up being BY FAR the most terrible hotel I've been to in the USA, and nearly the world (narrowly beat out by a $10 hotel in Kathmandu). That says a lot as I've served in the Peace Corps and spent most of my adult life traveling, often in very basic accommodations. When I got to the hotel I stopped in the breakfast area to get some water. Perhaps another guest threw something smelly in the trash, but the breakfast area smelled strongly of vomit.
I was VERY disappointed when I got to my room and pulled back the bed covers. The sheets were extremely winkled as though someone had been sleeping in them, and there was a brown mark near the pillows that looked like freshly dried blood. Despite being super tired, I knew I would not sleep well in that bed so asked for another room. The front desk attendant reported that there were none available, so instead I had to ask for a clean sheet and at 2:30 am, utterly exhausted, changed the sheets myself. At that point I was convinced they hadn't been changed before as when I put the clean fitted sheet on, there were no wrinkles at all! I did notice this new, "clean" set of sheets also had some gross yellow stains, but they were mostly around the sides so I could sleep in the bed without touching them, and I at least knew this set of sheets had been laundered.
Apart from the bed, the room was also disgusting. Giant, disgusting stains all over the carpet and chairs, the toilet seat was barely hanging on the toilet and almost fell off when I was using it. I asked the front desk attendant for a complimentary toothbrush for my troubles and was told I'd have to pay for it. In the end, I was so disgusted with the entire experience that though I didn't lay down in bed til after 2:30, I left at 5am: I couldn't sleep, so took a shower (great shower actually but towels filled with stains and holes) and left as I knew I would be more comfortable sitting in the airport. The front desk attendant assured me the GM would be in touch about my terrible experience, but...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. I stayed one night here. The exterior of the hotel makes you immediately think, "Oh no, I should have booked a different hotel." I'm talking a 'don't walk to your car alone at night' type feeling. I arrived to find the "Non-smoking" double queen bed room I had booked had clearly been smoked in repeatedly and then doused with air freshener in a useless attempt to cover it. The hallways all had a similar scent. I have scent-sensitive migraines. I'm not demanding perfection, I don't need zero scents, but if you don't have rooms that haven't been smoked in, don't offer them. It's false and irresponsible advertising, and people book non-smoking rooms for health reasons. I asked for another room and was given a non-smoking double full bed room (no price adjustment, but I was exhausted with dealing with this already so I didn't bother to fight on that). That room had a tolerable smell comparatively, but tons of damage and, to my mind, genuine safety issues.
The carpets in the halls and rooms were practically a patchwork job, and visibly un-vacuumed/just generally stained and disgusting. Once inside my new room, the first thing I noticed was that the fire alarm was hanging off the wall, attached by masking tape and covered with paint - I'm about 95% sure it wasn't functional. One of the two pocket lights in the ceiling was hanging out of the ceiling by its wires. Broken fire alarm and exposed electrical wires are more than "gross hotel" issues, they're actual safety concerns. In addition, the room phone was disconnected with no wires available to connect it. The TV stand door appeared to have been smashed in, and some of the other furniture damaged as well. I took pictures of all the damage and showed them to the front desk attendant, whose response was that "they are aware of it."
This hotel felt unsafe and dirty and I wouldn't recommend that anybody stay here. In fact, if any of the other rooms have the same safety issues as mine did, I don't think the place should be allowed to be open at all.
Last but definitely not least, the $150 deposit I paid upon checking in has not been refunded to my account. I was told it would be within 1-2 days of checkout and yet it is now 5 days past that and nothing has been refunded - surprise surprise, when I try to call the hotel the line just rings and rings. I have never written a review of a hotel before and I hope I never have to again, but this was absolutely unacceptable and unbelievable. Between the odor, the dirtiness, the damage and the multiple safety concerns, I wouldn't stay there again if...
Read more06/18/21 When I checked in Friday I was given the wrong hotel Key card and it didn't open the door. I was given another customer's key card. After I found the right room the refrigerator was not working and the person at desk did not want to accommodate this and instead told us to use the refrigerator inside the hotel office. I said this was not acceptable to be walking into the hotel.pffice all. Ight long. She then gave us another room where the television did not work. On Saturday night I was told that the television would be fixed by 10 p.m. no one ever came. The next morning another attendant on Sunday told me he would look at tv..he said he would be back and had tk look for a remote and that this TV did not have a remote to it. He never came back and I was left for three nights staring at the walls in this hotel room. The air conditioner was not functioning properly and I have not slept at all due to the heat . On Saturday night we complained after an hour of a mentally ill customer across the hall screaming where the front desk attendant did not do anything about this man screaming. so I lost another night of sleep. After 2 hours I was close to considering calling the cops to have this mentally ill person placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold for disturbing the peace...norhing was done about this man. Another night of no sleep. There is no screen in the window ..when the room got hot I could not open the window bc no screen but was too hot so when I did bugs flew into the room and I was left with flies flying around There are ants on the bathroom floor. One of the queen size bed frame is broken. There are no Maids on site. I couldn't receive a refund from either this facility or Expedia and I was forced to stay here all weekend exhausted during my trip to Seattle. There is no maintenance on staff to help with any of these problems and im sure your employees are stressed out from the multiple complaints that I've witnessed from other patrons here at this hotel...not just me. I witnessed another person complaining about their refrigerator standing at the front counter and another person wanting their money back as well to leave here for whatever reason. Initially I was going to ask for one night refunded but I want at least two nights refunded for the two nights I was unable to sleep and essentially my trip ruined from no sleep and the mentally I'll patient that should have been on a psychiatric unit. Also..your employee did approach this person's door and tell them to quiet down BUT not until we asked them to. and tried to do something but they...
