Firefighter's Memorial Park — Attraction in Union City

Had a great time here at the public pool. It was clean and everyone was friendly- and the views were amazing. There's even a Kiddie Pool and splash pad. A hidden gem for sure.

Definitely had some anxiety going in as I didn't know what to expect, here's some info for anyone visiting:

-The pool is open to residents of Union City AND residents of Hudson County as a whole. Bring your ID to gain entry.

-Check the website to see the times (the pool has different times for Adult Swim, Adult Lap Swim, Open Swim, Kiddie Pool, etc.

-The pool closes every two hours for cleaning (this is a plus as it looked and felt clean.)

-Parking is rough. There's free street parking but if you're not a resident of Union City there's a two hour limit before you catch a ticket. It's not great but it's doable to enjoy the pool in that timeframe.

-There are bathrooms but no lockers. You basically have to put your stuff on one of the steps or an area where you can see it and just keep an eye on it.

Overall great experience and worth it. I was there on Monday morning in July (at about 1030) and it got solidly busy- I can't imagine how packed it gets...

Two pools; kiddie pool and large pool that only goes up to 4.5 feet on each end, 3.5 feet in middle. There is also a large sprinkler area. Gorgeous public pool open to all Hudson County residents. They used to allow you to bring in drinks and food, as you could eat it on the park side of the facility. But, we went for the first time this Summer on Friday and there is now a posted sign for no food or drink allowed at all, except they will allow bottled water. That is good since in the Summer heat I feel that could be a serious health hazard. They also allow anything for medical reasons. There is someone who checks your ID and inspects your bags upon entry now, so that is also new. We didn't go to the small park side this time, so don't know if there are any changes over there. Large restrooms and a staff/first aid room. Staff are excellent. Always seems to be a police presence. Location and view are great. Though, street parking only. On street cleaning days, may have to park a block or so away. Great idea to walk if live close enough. Wonderful public pool for all to take advantage of in this great City life we...

This is a great pool the only con is the person at the front who checks the bags . She's very rude and is on her phone the entire time anyone has an interaction with her. Last week I checked the opening time which was 10 am for kiddie pool got there at 9:59am and she told me No it opens in 1 hour . We waited . Today I came in at 11am I was told again No it opens in 1 hrs all while she was on her phone . I had my crying child with me so I went to pick him up and she said in a louder tone No it opens in one hour . No consideration for anyone's time . Obviously lying and on some power trip .the pool was great beautiful views just the employee at the front needs to be trained better. Also as I was leaving I asked a different attendant what time does the kiddie pool open and she interrupted us and told that attendant I'm only asking her that because I had to wait then threw an adult tantrum and said she's going on break...
