I was really hoping to support Indigenious communities and those that purchase from them by coming here, but the entire store is kitschy and tacky. When I asked the employee working there for help locating Lakota (something that is advertised on their main counter) jewelry or handmade items, she handed me a box of Navajo items and when I asked if the artists was apart of both tribes (Navajo and Lakota), she began getting defensive and rude. Then when I began asking questions about the owner/what ties does this store even have to Indegenious communities, I was met with rudeness and attitude. The employee was perfectly fine indulging the white customers that came in after me, but incorrectly identified jewelry to me and made me feel completely unwelcome in a shop I was hoping to find some joy in. I am Indigenous. I will never be coming back here and will never spend a cent here and advise you to find other ways to support these...
Read moreI had an amazing experience in Spirit Wind, I saw it as I was driving down the road and decided to turn around and stop because I saw that it was a Native owned store. I walked in and immediately was in awe at the beautiful display of culture in an honoring way (as opposed to other metaphysical stores that appropriate Native culture) Pam, the woman working radiates the most beautiful energy and makes you feel so welcome. She helped me select the most beautiful piece of Malachite and we talked for a little about how amazing the store was. This stop was for sure an impulse stop but I will definitely be returning soon, even if I have to drive an hour from Dayton to visit again. THANK YOU PAM!! (If you are a non native person and you visit this store, be respectful of the other cultures present and think before you shop about appropriation and...
Read moreThis is a beautiful shop. When I visit, I find myself treating the space like a museum because so much care is represented for the Native culture and artifacts. During my latest visit, I bought four pieces of jewelry. The bracelet cuff selection is superb. An employee instructed me how to clean and care for the silver. She even cut me a piece of adhesive moleskin, I believe it was called, to fit a ring I wanted, but was too big on its own. The selection of books is phenomenal. Most are out of print today, but feature important stories and facts about Native history and culture that mustn’t be forgotten.
5 stars all the way! I drive 40 minutes to visit this shop. It is the best spiritual and Native shop I have ever visited. Incense, crystals, sage and a variety of other herbs are...
