Wouldn’t recommend this place
Just tried to get seen over two days and wasn’t able to get seen. The first day the lady said that I would be seen around 7pm. So I went home and took a nap and woke up to missed calls at 4:15p. When I texted the number back they said that they moved on to someone else and I would have to wait till morning to be seen. They said that I could call back the next day to get on the walk in list and when I did so the next day, their automatic operating system didn’t give an option for walk ins. It should also be noted that their number is not public on Google either and I only had it because I went in person to be seen the first day. So, I drove back out to the place to be told that I couldn’t be seen till 2-3pm time.
This time I kept my phone on me my entire time but they didn’t call till 2:30 which was fine. When I was checking in, they let me know that the deductible for today was going to be some $4k number and that I would have to pay $179 for today’s visit. I was fine paying the $179 but as a young 23 year old, I didn’t fully understand the concept of insurance. So, I said the $179 is fine but asked about the $4k amount and whether I would have to pay that. Mind you that I am coming in to be seen for a rash. Haley at the front desk says that the $179 is some chunk of the full amount that I will have to pay throughout the year. So I asked again that I would have to pay that large amount to which she nodded. I said I can’t pay $4k and walk out. I then called my mom who explained that our insurance would cover most of that and that our out of pocket cost would be much lower.
So I walked back in about some 5-10 minutes later and asked for more clarification from a different front desk lady. I asked how much out of pocket I would have to pay for the totality of the visit. To which they still couldn’t give a clear answer. At this point, I was fed up but trusted in my mom and tried to be seen. They said they had already moved on to the next person and that they could put me in the next cycle. I just left at that point mad.
As a person who deals with insurance every day, how can you not simply explain the concept of deductibles and out of pocket expenses to a confused patient. I get that I misunderstood what was going on but you’re the expert and you’re supposed to help people who didn’t fully get what is going on.
Also have a better system for walk ins. In Virginia, it’s first come first serve at urgent cares and they don’t prioritize appointments. It is also not that hard to put your number on your Google My Business...
Read moreI fell and injured my right ankle on the 28th of May, I observed that the swelling was not going down so on the 31st of May, that third day I decided to go to indigo urgent care in the university place. My wait was very extensive at least 21/2 hours,However I was very impressed with the ladies at the front desk and the kindness and respect they showed to all, I was even assisted with going on line and creating my Indigo account, I was assisted in any way that I asked and even assisted in getting hot coffee, the environment was very clean and maintained, after each patient was called back to be seen the front desk staff ensured that the area was sanitized and clean for the next patient, I was very impressed. When it was my turn to be seen the n’user came out to walk help me in to the office, I was treated so kind by this amazing woman and her positive energy made everything feel so much better for me, she took my vitals blood pressure weight and went through all of my medications with me and listened to my concerns and then she took me to get X-rays, when I returned from X-ray, not to much longer the Doctor came in to give me the test results. The Doctor entered and told me that I have a fracture in two places around my right ankle and that she was going to refer me to a specialist. She asked the staff to put a brace on my leg they did and I came home. The staff working at Indigo Urgent Care were exceptional, Thank you ARNP Yeahmyung Pero, and Thank you Aubri, Emoni, Deyha, and Christina, you all rock.
June 1,2025, I am feeling pain in my right foot since the brace was first placed on that I didn't feel before, so I called and spoke with Malik who was very kind and so considerate, thank you Malik, I told him of the pain and that I thought I needed meds until the specialist called me, and Malik, was very tentative and caring about my concerns he said he would send the Doctor a message of all of my concerns and he did, then about 20 minutes later, Malik called me back and told me the doctor asked him to inform and to tell me to go to ER because it was possibly compartment pain. Malik was so very thoughtful and considerate to all of my concerns and fears. Thank you Malik..
Once more , I want to thank the beautiful staff At Indigo Urgent...
Read moreI really liked the receptionist, Bernie. She was very helpful and did her very best. I was not impressed with the cumbersome process. I am a disabled senior and really felt awful. I wasn’t up for the technology involved in a virtual visit. The office didn’t have a handicapped parking space nor a cut out curb. Very hard for me to get in. I had to park a ways away. I knew what I needed: I had a UTI and had to leave a urine sample so that I could get antibiotics. I tried to access the video visit but had trouble connecting to the internet because there was no service at the office. As I tried to talk with the intake nurse the connection was unstable. She said I had to go to my car and sit inside it to enable the connection. This entailed quite a walk around the building and across the parking lot. Once in the car, the connection was not that much better. She asked me all the same questions the receptionist had asked including the reason for my visit. Once we were able to finish with her questions, I had to wait again for the Nurse Practioner. He asked me all the same questions again. He was great once we were able to get to the reason for my visit. He then said I had to walk back around the building and across the parking lot to the office where I began in order to leave a urine sample. That’s what I had requested 45 minutes earlier. I left the sample. The nurse called in a Rx to my pharmacy and I was on my way. I don’t under why this process was deemed more efficient than simply seeing someone in the office, obtaining a cup and leaving a sample. It was hard on me to do so much walking in order to get some sort of internet connection, especially when you have no handicapped parking space nor cut out curb and I felt like hell with a full blown UTI I was able to diagnose myself (I had been in the same office 2 weeks earlier with the same thing ). I understand it’s a “gee whiz, ain’t this fun” virtual medicine thing, but it was very inefficient and increased my discomfort. My suggestions: Put in a handicapped parking spot with cut out curb, get real internet accessibility, don’t have a 3 layered intake process. You’ll save time and I would’ve been saved great discomfort. Thanks for the virtual idea. It just needs...
