The place is great because there are many resources offered, like library cards, and free computer access and free printing. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The only complaint I have about this library is the noise. A lot of people treat this place like a community center, from loud teenagers, to kids who run around, to inconsiderate adults, at times it's very hard to study or read here.
When I came here back around 2014, there were librarians who got on people about noise. Today, many librarians seem to be passive about excess noise, and even contribute to it. I reserved a study room, and once had to step out to ask a librarian to be a little quiter because they were chatting about their day to someone right outside the room I was in.
If you're someone who prefers a generally quiet atmosphere, the best time to come is late morning, early afternoon, while minors are in school and many adults are at work. I really only come here to use the computers. When I must study or read, I...
Read moreI recently encountered some displeasing behavior from both of your managers located at the university place library branch.
I booked a two hour slot for the conference room that has a disclaimer stating that the room is open to the public. Which I then agreed to acknowledging such term.
At 1705 I was approached by Malia. I explained that I understand another group May enter but I should not be forced out. Later at 1709, Steve comes in and I then again explained that the conference room is open to the public. Why am I being pressured to leave?
Steve sarcastically states well no one ever stays pass their time. As of if the conference room didn’t have a pre warning that it’s open to the public and anyone May enter at any time.
Bottom line, I was approached by two managers that agreed with the clause of the agreement and stilled pressures and bullies me out of the room so another group could study as I was doing. Completely disgusting on how I was treated and will not...
Read moreThe University Place library is so noisy it usually resembles a nursery. Apparently parents think this is a great place to bring their children with no regard or thought for the needs of the other patrons and the staff do nothing to stop the noise. The parents show no regard or respect for others - they do not have the right to inflict their noisy children on others. Very difficult place to read or study or try to do any kind of work requiring mental concentration. Even worse is the fact that bad manners and no consideration for others are instilled in the children because they are allowed to be VERY noisy. They run, run, run as if they are on a playground. Then the crying starts. Some people cannot stand this kind of stress-inducing noise, especially combat veterans. People also come to this library to apply for jobs because they have no other resource. It is impossible to concentrate with all...
