I went there with my daughter for their class trip. It was my first time being there but my husband had commented on how cool it was so I was excited... Of course having 3 classes (of 15-20 per group) taking turns in each section with a guide explaining things. I feel that if I would have went there on my own with my kids it would have been a lot more enjoyable. They have a lot of interesting items to look at from the local area and other parts of Florida.... Even information on when which county became a county and photos. I believe that being spoken to about several items from different times and locations in only 15 minutes and trying to fit in passing around certain items that the kids could touch was what took away from the experience! Id also suggest that the guides remember that they're dealing with little kids who have a bunch of questions and comments (that normally won't have anything to do with whats being takled about but they're kids!!!

I really enjoyed touring this historic museum, informative and interesting way to spend the afternoon. Tons of local trivia, and comprehensive look into the beginnings of Valparaiso Florida. 5 dollars admission, and children get in for a much lower price. Several rooms to navigate through, that cover a big area of multiple topics, such as turpentine, smithing, and other valuable trades, during , the early 1900's,.

Awesome staff, having a retired local school teacher on staff was perfect. Thank you for showing Pack 522 from shalimar how living here so many years ago was so rewarding.

Perfect example of looks can be deceiving! Looks small from the outside, but so much information packed on the inside. Great little spot to learn the history of the area. We had an absolute blast and highly recommend. I wish we had got there a little earlier (we got there an hour before closing), to really enjoy learning and reading all the info provided! The man running the place was an absolute pleasure. So kind and patient, even stayed open a little longer to give us time to finish looking around. Great little area, as well! We sat outside just chit-chatting and enjoying the weather and...
