Vandalia is a super interesting small town in Illinois, as it turns out it was the third city to be the home of the State Capital. Amazingly this building was built in 90 day to prevent the capital being moved to Springfield, but it was only a temporary victory, 3 years later it was moved. Also of note, it is also the 4th capitol building and the only surviving one of the four. Not only did Lincoln get his start in politics, but became officially a lawyer here as well.
