What a great place! Happened to be driving through Illinois on I-70 and stopped at a nearby campsite. I didn’t want to settle for subpar fast food along the highway. Thank goodness I didn’t. I spotted Blind Society on Google maps, and it looked promising, so we gave it a shot. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, and there were a lot of people there for a small town on a Thursday evening. The wallpaper in the dining room is fantastic. We ordered the Champagne Chicken & the fried pork chops. Along with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and garlic green beans. Everything was delicious. The mushroom sauce on the champagne chicken was exceptional. We ordered the strawberry cream cake to go and it did not disappoint. Right next door, well kind of attached, is the newly opened Witness Distillery. Also awesome, but I’ll review them separately. Honestly the only thing I’m disappointed about is that we are passing through and won’t get to become regulars at this lovely restaurant. Well worth the 5 minute drive off the highway. Thanks Blind Society for keeping up the food quality in a small town!! IG @mereditheatspdx

I had a wonderful dinner and cocktails yesterday! Bartender was wonderful and made a delicious old fashioned and espresso martini sans cream for me (thank you!) and my dinner was phenomenal. I got the 6oz surf and turf with grilled shrimp and garlic green beans as well as a small spinach salad to share with my partner. The appetizer of lobster rangoons was delicious and the presentation was great. Fries but not overly greasy and a good ratio of rangoon to filling (something I care about). My steak was cooked perfectly and my only tiny comments to this great establishment would be my green beans could have been slightly less cooked but were delicious nonetheless, and I do have to agree with the other review that some sound dampening foam or other method for helping the acoustics could be beneficial when large groups are in. All in all I will definitely be back as the food was excellent especially for the price and the atmosphere was very welcoming and modern. Thank you!

I expected more for the price...the lobster rangoon and the fried pickles were to DIE FOR!!! The appetizer was the best part of our meal! For the main entree... I'm a burger and fry guy but I feel like they need more for the ONE burger they have on the menu! It kind of tasted like a sams club burger patty, very bland and not a lot to it (menu said $11 bill was rung up as $12 on my check) Comparable to something I'd get at a fast food restaurant! Sweet potato fries are great...very good...my wife ordered the sirloin, it was cooked perfect so props the the chef on that but the plating for the main entrees definitely seemed to be lacking. Environment is incredible and the history of the distillery and the building definitely makes for an enjoyable dinner

Here I am over an hour and a half later STILL waiting on our food??!! And then asked our waitress if she could check to see what’s going on and after she goes back and checks she comes back and tells me it’s going to be another 15-20 minutes????? This is beyond ridiculous. I don’t even know how to rate the food but in all honesty, this could be the best food I’ve ever had and I would still give this place 1 star because having to sit here, SUPER HUNGRY, and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait just ruins this entire experience.

Update: so, 30 minutes after we were told our food would be out in 15-20 minutes, she brings my son’s plate out and told me they were “pulling” mine right now, which I understood to mean mine was coming out right away. 10 more minutes go by as my son is happily eating his food and…a full 2 HOURS PLUS after I made my order, my food FINALLY came out. The food was good but definitely nothing spectacular. I’m not sure which is more crazy, having to wait over two hours for my food or the fact that the waitress acted like this was no big deal. There was no apology or agreement that this was an in order it amount of time, even asked her if she understood why I was so frustrated and having to wait so long and she said well it is a Saturday night. Even though I didn’t want it and told her I was not Bringing this up to get any types of discounts. She did offer us a free dessert which we took to go. And just so people know I tipped her very well, As for the most part this was not her fault although a little empathy...
