Witness Distillery — Local services in Vandalia

We did a weekend in Vandalia because...Ponderosa! However, in my research Witness seemed like a good option. It absolutely was the highlight of the weekend.

The building is unassuming but is so warm and welcoming - probably a reflection of the owners. Downstairs, Tje Underground, was a nice surprise amd the drinks were delicious - I am not a big drinker and love those I tasted.

The "tour" is more like an informational tour because you are in the distilling room at a table. All of the information was great and helped to better understand whiskey, bourbon, rum, and vodka. Being with other people was fun. The tasting was perfect for me since, again, I don't know drinks well.

We left with bottles and a barrel that sits on our porch as a table.

While passing through town on a cross country roadtrip, we were searching for a restaurant and found so, so much more! The plan was to eat dinner at Blind Society, which was excellent, but we had no idea we’d also have the pleasure of trying out Witness Distillery. Fantastic Bourbon, fantastic gifts, fantastic people... and, oh goodness, the peach vodka. If you are even remotely close to Vandalia, Illinois, you must stop here. Our visit was so enjoyable. Rick is very knowledgeable, and engages you in the interesting history of distilling as well as the area. The tastings were all good. For me, there were products I wasn't expecting to enjoy that I did. You get to sample them all. There is a variety of merch in their store to enjoy your alcohol and show your love of this distillery.
