We had our wedding here two weeks ago. Difficult to get a hold of answers, not allowed to tour the venue or practice setting up tables for your event, and a scheduling conflict. There were several issues, and I'm only giving two stars because the ceremony and reception went very well.

Email communication was tedious, as I asked if we could just tour the facility so we could design our floor plan. But we were told no. Questions were answered one at a time. There is a website online that lists the details of the venue and says it seats 80. After we had booked, sent invitations, and gone even further in planning we finally got an email back saying it could only seat 48! The director told us that was a wedding site they were not affiliated with, and to view details the .gov address. THERE WAS NOTHING ABOUT THE TRAIN STATION ON THE WEBSITE. I searched every menu, there is no page describing so much as the location of the train depot! We were PRAYING family wouldn't show up, what an awful wish for a wedding day.

Also they did not alert us to the fact that it was homecoming night, and about 500 teenagers showed up to take pictures at the park around the facility. I'd say about half the people were kind and realized a wedding was taking place and moved along. But other parents were downright rude and told us, "We picked the wrong night to get married." We PAID for the venue, not you!

I understand that the homecoming picture fiasco is not directly their fault, although if it does happen annually perhaps they might have known and could've given us a heads up. And while dealing with the communications failings was a pain, the venue itself was beautiful and we had a great time celebrating there.

So again, I had a wonderful wedding, married a wonderful man, but I wouldn't work with a government run venue like this again. Tedious, impersonal and...

From photos, I was enchanted with the idea of getting married here. A seemingly lovely water view and quaint rustic interior. I called for further information and what a nightmare! The woman I spoke with was nothing short of brusque and disingenuous. They offer NO options to actually view the interior except "through glass" or via online photos, strictly enforce you leave the venue spotless for the next renters which obviously discloses that they do little to no sanitation between renters despite vehemently enforcing social distancing. And when I mentioned that for something as important as my wedding, I would like to view the space, verify that outlets work, gauge space, see tables and chairs they offer for rent, etc., I was told "Yeah... silence". They also offer no options for setup day before or tear down day after, they expect you to pay for each individual hour your belongings are in the space. Im getting married on a Thursday, are you really that slammed on Wednesday? I have worked in events and hospitality for several years and have never experienced this degree of chaotic unprofressionalism. Part of me is heartbroken to lose this venue. Part of me is relieved to be spared the logistical nightmare this...

This place is beautiful but the . Man who works here was extremely mean an degrading. I was dropped off here by the police the day before with everything I owned. I didn't know I was sick and had trama of the brain and my brain started swelling causing encephalopathy.the morning I met the compassionateless individual he called the police department to trespass me from the property. The same police officer that dropped me off told me I had to leave with all my belongs. So I moved everything down the train track where there was a bench by the water and I sat all day this is. I had nothing to eat or drink. And I sat there All day getting worse starting to Hallucinate. I ended up being picked up by the fire department which I don't remember and waking up in the hospital not knowing how I got there or why. Needless to say all my belongings are gone. One item being my college laptop, all my clothing and shoes tablet. Things I can't replace. All because of this mean old man who works here please if you found any of this...

We enjoyed visiting the historic sites of Venice Florida. It was a pleasant learning experience. As these tours are relatively new, the only suggestion I would have to offer would be to talk about more recent history rather than just the focus on the early development of Venice. While it was interesting, there were a lot more recent sites that could have been mentioned while on tour. The tour guide was dressed as a historic character and was talking about the life of that specific personality, some of which had already been discussed while at the train station. In doing so, we passed several places while riding the trolley in Venice that should have earned honorable mention. But overall, it was a great experience.

Today, best known as a trailhead for the 18.5 mile long Legacy Trail (a bicycle trail that goes from Venice to Sarasota, the 1927 Historic Venice Train Depot offers a rich history shown in a small museum and displayed with two train cars (1953 Pullman Standard and 1974 Louisville and Nashville 6445 caboose) and a Statue of Gunther Gebel-Williams (the Ringling Brothers Circus used this train line back in the day) as well a train-themed playground, recreational areas on the Intracoastal Waterway/Venetian Waterway, and, of course, the Legacy Trail. As a large green space, with the large depot offering shade, VTD is a great place to visit to relax and enjoy the rich heritage of Venice, Florida

Had a nice 12 mile walk/run. Great trail....laat 2 miles were rough due to heat but lots of fun! Did a 12 mile power walk/ wind sprints this morning. I started at the Venice railroad station museum and went 6 miles north. I liked the trail and the bridges were cool for sprints...on the first half that is...😊 There is a few of the old train stops that were cool and offered restrooms and water.
