Id give NONE if I could! Family of four incredibly excited to try this place for breakfast, walked in, was completely ignored. Stood there for 10+ minutes while employees kept passing us intentionally avoiding eye contact - you could feel it. I then asked if it was self-seating and was just plainly told no. While standing in ‘THE WAIT HERE’ area, we were extremely rudely told to (and literally) ‘to get out of the way’ while she physically motioned to my young children to stand back to the case/stand behind us. I said MAAM WE ARE WAITING TO BE SEATED IN THE AREA DESIGNATED ‘THE WAIT TO BE SEATED’ she said someone will be there but you need to move. - so first off, where do we go? Secondly? We werent even spoken to or acknowledged, not a thing until we were being yelled at. This lady was an inch from physically touching my children. The place had plenty staff, and not incredibly busy. The list truly goes on, we turned around and walked out, it was incredibly embarrassing and as we walked out those sitting outside literally apologized to US and our children. I’ve lived in venice florida for 35 years, i am in the serving industry as a bartender and server, it takes me alot to not chalk a bad experience up to a bad day and have only ever written one other bad review, this takes the cake. Ill leave my experience here in every review possible, also, their loss, we tip the bill! Pictured is the super kind lady that came close to having to deal with my 6’3 husband if she came on inch closer to physically pushing our children. 👍🏼 so many beautiful cafes and places to eat here on the island, save yourself the disrespect, go...

I reviewed the spot months ago, with five stars. I am leaving those comments appended below, but this morning reducing to two stars, and here is why:

used the online ordering system this morning for curbside pick up, entered my credit card number and all that. When I finally got the food, it was fine as usual. But the curbside pickup was a mess. I had entered my vehicle information and color as requested, no one came to the car. So I called the number and a woman really wanted me to come in. I objected. I described exactly where I was, she said she couldn’t see me. And really gave me the impression she just really didn’t want to honor the curbside. I was in the closest parking place I could find, and she said oh you don’t have to park just drive by. After I threatened to cancel the order, demand a credit-card refund, and then she finally found me, it was a good four minutes before she brought the food because maybe I was a little early. But what was I supposed to do had I followed her request: block Miami Avenue for four minutes? Anyway, food was fine, but didn’t appreciate the unhelpful attitude. If they can’t honor curbside pick up, they shouldn’t offer it.

Earlier five-star review from 2020 follows;

One of my new faves after moving to Venice this summer. Delightful shrimp-and-grits. brunch this morning, with side of an egg, and coffee. But just as impressed with the super friendly staff, both the servers and the manager on duty. My second visit this summer, there...

Good food, good service, with indoor and sheltered outdoor seating and an apparent bent toward New England seafood... could you ask for more. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. and each menu has a plethora of choices. The salads are deliciously uncommon, like the Asian with chicken, lettuce, cabbage, rice noodles, almonds, carrots in an oriental sesame dressing, or the shrimp and spinach, or the blackened seafood caesar, or... (I'll stop there, I haven't tried the rest). There's also an enormous selection of sandwiches, wraps and burgers. The reuben was tasty and the new york burger was substantial. Oh, and the 'lobsta' roll was very substantial. Chicken, veal, pork, beef and seafood are part of the massive dinner menu, many with a decidedly 'North End' Italian flair. Some other items can be grilled, fried, or blackened. Finally the delectable deserts are big enough for two. One last thing... On her own, the waitress brought out a bowl of water for my 'quiet as a mouse' shetland sheepdog laying under the table and asked if it was ok before she put it down. How much more attentive and considerate could one be. Clearly, Burgundy Square cafe is on my...

I had been here years ago and wanted to try it again. I remember really loving it. I love that they have local artists artwork all over the restaurant. I also love their menu options and the vintage collection of salt and pepper shakers. I love that they have an eclectic collection of coffee mugs from the thrift store. I had the veggie omelette with home fries. My sister had the spinach and feta quiche with a side of the “fresh” fruit. The fruit was bad so she returned it and got the home fries instead. I really liked my veggie omelette and ate all of it. My sister didn’t really like her quiche only because the crust was not homemade (it was a frozen store bought), and the feta was overwhelming and made the quiche very salty. Hence, 4 stars instead of 5. I would go again. But there are a lot of places in Venice that I’d like to try for breakfast.

My beautiful wife and I took the day to spend at the craft fair in Venice. It was very nice. We went to the Burgundy Square Cafe for a cold beer and a bit of lunch. First things first, bring or wear long sleeves. Shivering like my poor wife did thu lunch should never happen. The beer menu is very limited so dont get your hopes up there. I had a lobster roll. It was well stuffed on the toasted bun, but s bit dry ( actually very dry needed more mayo ) and no onion or celery or carrots, no nothing. My wife had the pesto chicken sandwich. It was a nice size breast nicely cooked on some sort of bun. She said it was rather good but a tad greasy. Why a grilled checked breast is greasy is a bit of a mystery. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great. The place is nice and clean too. However I do not see a return visit...
