There are a lot of good businesses in the strip mall. Vons, the small shop right next door to Vons that seems to have everything, the Indian restaurant, the hair cutting place that cuts hair for like only 20 bucks and gives good fade, and so on.
With that said, this is an extremely shady part of town and if you leave your car make sure it's locked. If you have a truck, do not leave bicycles in the back or on bike racks in the rear, that goes for RVs as well. Any personal item of perceived value will be stolen.
There are a ton of homeless people and drug addicts loitering the parking lot. One-on-one, the vast majority are harmless, but it doesn't mean that they won't steal from your vehicle.
Despite the homeless and drug addict population, the businesses are good. It's just that the location is so close to the river bottom where many of these people live.
I've never had any problems with homeless people there. Tonight when I went to go get my 5 gallon jug of water filled, there was someone smoking something out of a glass pipe right next to the machine. When he saw me feeling my water he limped off without a word. I can see how that would be off putting to a lot of people, but for the most part they're harmless, except for the part where they will steal anything that's not nailed down...
Read moreIt's been cleaned up pretty good from the vagrants hanging around all the time now they have outside security patrol. The guards working at the door in Vons by the liquor get bored and wander around like halway monitors looking for something the people watching the security cameras might not see 🤔 and I had a pedicure at the the nail and foot place a few times because I mostly wear flip flops and my feet get dry and Crack, The last time I went I gave the lady my bank card and noticed she dropped a receipt on the floor and I asked her about it and she no longer could understand English so when I got home later I called my my bank to check on the transactions for that day and found out she charged me twice for the pedicure which was mostly just soaking my feet. A few days later I told the owner about it and he said to bring him a bank statement which is a big pain now since I went paperless to save the trees and have to pay the bank to get anything on paper now! I,ll never go there again and hope that the people that do are aware of the possibility of it happening to them, I also go to the barbershop there and they are great and give me a hair cut and shave and even trim the eyebrows that get like horns that grow on the ends 😉 have a nice day and shop local...
Read moreI frequent here ALOT because of its location living in the Ventura Ave area it is the closest shopping center with VONS, Rite Aid, some food places auto part store, Check cashing, nail salon, hair cuts, dry cleaners. What is unfortunate is it seems to be one of the main spots for transient types. I'm not saying that all people who need a place to park or rest r causing trouble. I don't mind helping someone out who is offering an exchange , Flowers washing my windows, helping with my groceries... I have also been there & it takes a lot to get up & out but I also understand scandelous and damgerous if it doesn't feel right don't acknowledge, lock ur door. When I do chose to help someone it isn't my business to tell them what to buy. On a more positive note, we have a great bus system This place is right on 2 different bus lines. Overall the people who work at the different places are helpful & friendly. This is auch needed shopping center & I'm grateful...
