My wife and I were visiting family in Ventura and they took us to this restaurant for dinner. We live in Michigan and we do have Mexican restaurants, but none of them serve Mexican food as good as this place. Everything we had here was great. The staff are very friendly and helpful, some don’t speak English but they will find someone who does speak English to answer any questions. They brought some nachos and salsa to the table as soon as we were seated. My wife asked them if they had any hotter salsa and they brought a third salsa out that looked like a nacho cheese dip. My wife was eating it and really enjoying it because she said it was actually HOT. One of our family members came in after work and sat down and took a big amount of the hot salsa onto a chip and ate it. His face lit up like he was going to explode and he started chugging water. He said he thought that was a cheese dip and said that’s the hottest salsa he ever had. We ordered House Margarita’s, Taquitos, Street Tacos, Organic Lentil Soup and Enchiladas Suizas and everything was excellent. I highly recommend this place and would eat here again and try something else on their menu the next time we are in Ventura.
None of us had a single complaint about this place.
Just a friendly warning that if you ask for a hotter salsa, they will give you the hottest salsa you have...
Read morewent for an early dinner on a Friday. hardly anyone in the place. service was terrible. ordered margaritas and finally asked where they were. we were told "they are ready, I'll go get them for you" had to wait much longer than it should have taken for someone to walk 30' to bring them. at least they were good. had to wait over long to get our food for a place with hardly anyone in it. we had to ask when we would be getting our food and once again were told it's ready I'll go get it for you. then we had to wait much longer than it should have taken for someone to walk 30' to get our food. my carne asada and enchalada were cold. once again I had to wait over long to get warmed up food, well they did give me a fresh enchalada and reheated carne asada that was tough and dried out. while waiting for hot food the beans and rice got cold as I had nothing but chips to eat them with as the server took my fork. I complained to the manager about the poor service and cold food as well as the tough dried out carne asada. he said I'm sorry you are disappointed with our service and food. there was no offer to take anything off of our bill. to top all that off we were both sick that evening. I doubt this place will be in...
Read moreCame to Blue Agave because of a friend's recommendation. I had high hopes but was let down. We were seated by a hostess that was less than receptive. After we were seated, had to get up and get our own menu. The waiter was not very attentive either.Once the food was delivered and we asked for another drink and chips, he didn't come back until we were done with our meal It's wasn't that the restaurant was busy, in fact there were only 2 other tables in the area. We had the enchiladas and the carnitas. The enchiladas were good, rice and beans good. Unfortunately the carnitas were not good, in fact they tasted as if the oil was rancid. I love carnitas and after a couple of bites I could not eat anymore. When the waiter came back and was informed of the bad tasting carnitas said "ok, sorry". Never offered to have a manager come to the table or take the meal off the bill. I don't expect something for nothing, however I don't like paying for rancid food. It may have been just a one time thing to have bad carnitas, but I didn't get the opportunity to talk with a manager. With there being so many options out there for Mexican food, the large selection of tequilas on their menu isn't enough to outshine a bad meal with...
