I booked my stay at this location through a booking agent who convinced me to get the luxury single with a balcony and fire place. When I got to my room after a day of setting up for a convention, it was a tiny little room. I wish now that I had taken pictures. It was so mall that if I had requested a roll away bed for the room, it never would have fit. There was no fire place.. that too never would have fit in this room... And the balcony was not a balcony, it was a tiny patio surrounded by a tall red fence.
bal·co·ny n. pl. bal·co·nies A platform that projects from the wall of a building and is surrounded by a railing
The red fence was so tall that to look out the window, all you would see is a red fence. The room number was 123. you cannot have a balcony on a ground level floor...
So I went to the front desk where there was I was able to speak to the Manager, an older middle eastern man... I told him that this was not only 'not' the room I was promised but it was not the room I paid extra for. The Manager, very friendly, stated that this time of year the fire places were turned off anyway and insisted that the room I was in was the equivalent of the room I had been promised...
I knew when I booked this hotel, I was not checking into the Marriott. I thought if this was the luxury room.. I would really hate to see the regular room... So I bought it...
I had gone then to dinner and when I arrived back, I plugged all my electronics into the wall next to the bed. climbed onto the bed and kicked off my shoes.. I then saw the TV remote sitting by the TV and I stepped out of bed to get it... I step into a soaked carpet deep enough for the water to pool around my now wet socks... Right were I had just stood before plugging in my electronics.
I put my wet feet back into my sneakers and walked back to reception where I proceeded to tell the young man at the desk about the water and that I could not tell if a previous patron had spilled a lot of water there or there was a leak in the wall somewhere. The young man said "So you want another room... I asked "Don't you want maintenance to go have a look to see if there is a bigger problem?". He said "We don't have anyone.". I then asked for a new room.
I was sent then to room117 which was, low and behold, almost twice the size of the room I had just come from.. Yes it still had a stupid red fenced patio, but least it didn't feel like a cell. How on earth could that Manager have looked me in the eye and said that 123 was a luxury single.
I would say from this point that the rest of the trip was uneventful but for a friend and business associate was having even more problems with his room..again not having gotten what he was promised and more, had insisted that the manager call him to confront him about the problems. He had mentioned to the manager while listing off his problems, what I his friend and business associate was going threw as well, and was told, what happens in other people rooms is none of his business and that I was a liar. This man who spent the weekend lying to people about the rooms they were getting, just called me a liar to a business associate.
I checked out that night when I still had a night left to my stay because I was seriously afraid that if I had stayed and run into the manager the following morning I would have beat him up.
Do not, do not, do not stay...
Read moreVentura's Clocktower Inn promised a delightful getaway, but our experience was marred by a lapse in customer service. While the location was convenient, the room reasonably priced, and the front desk staff very friendly, (shout out to Erica for allowing us to check in early), the end of our stay was marred by a non-functioning shower after a busy day of activities. We spoke with two desk clerks about our situation, one the morning of our check out and one a few days later after we returned home. Both assured us that we would be hearing back from a manager about the situation and we were told we would receive a discount on our stay. It has now been 9 days and we have not heard from a manager. The Clocktower Inn's failure to resolve our complaint or even extend the courtesy of a simple follow-up call left us disappointed. As seasoned hospitality professionals, we understand the importance of customer satisfaction, but our experience fell short of industry standards. What otherwise was an enjoyable stay was tarnished by the management’s indifference towards our problem. The Clocktower Inn's lack of professional management was inexcusable. A hotel's true measure lies not in its amenities but in its ability to address concerns promptly and respectfully – a benchmark the Clocktower Inn failed to meet.

Read moreHorrible do not stay here! We moved rooms 4 times. Worst night sleep in hotel that I can remember.
1st room stunk funky so we called front desk to get a/c working it was unpluged turned on a/c and made the room smell worse like urine. Wife called front desk, hotel offered to change rooms. When we talked to the front desk the guy was nice and polite, but I noticed that he grabbed a ton of keys to different rooms. Obviously there are problems he was not sure what rooms were working properly and seemed like normal to change guests to different rooms. So we all went from room to room checking for which had the least problems. 2nd room the a/c was broke and tv did not work. 3rd room smaller beds and a/c not working. 4th room wife finally said 'good enough' almost midnight and we have 2 kids with us. After 4 rooms we settled for the best of the worst. Shortly after we moved in the 4th room, almost midnight I got a call from desk suggesting not to turn off a/c or it might not turn back on. We should have left room and hotel but it was midnight. So in 4th room and realized a/c machine runs but I dont think it works, windows are screwed shut on first floor. Also, in the bathroom the vent was not working and only 1 light turns on. Then in morn bath light worked weird. The Toilet fills all night about every 8 minutes. Toilet was leaking I timed it because I could not sleep kept waking up to toilet water. The beds sagged springs are old. The carpet I think that is what smells. All the rooms I saw have a similar moldy funky smell and the tvs, cable and a/c were unplugged alot when we walk in a room (why). I wanted to leave, but wife and kids exhausted. Morning breakfast free I guess I paid with only 3 hours sleep. Breakfast consisted of warmish eggs, sausage, potatoes, eggos, bagels, mini muffins, cereal, juice, coffee, etc. Even my kids only liked muffins and danish. Ok worst part. Go back to room to take a shower to pack up and leave and shower water only worked halfway most to lower tub faucet. Then looked up and noticed BLACK MOLD in bathroom ceiling. The hotel covered it up with some dry wall mud but mold growing through see pictures. Is that legal to have guests stay in rooms with black mold? That is when I decided to write a review and post the pictures. I took some pics of room and bathroom to show damage that could be treated and repaired.
I would not want to have my kids or anyone to stay at this hotel for...
