Clean, attractive, beach within walking distance of all of downtown Vermilion main Street shops and restaurants. Parking is free, but could fill up as the day goes by. Additional (free) parking is available on the nearby side streets. There is also public free parking closer to main street near the train, but quite a walk with little kids. Beach has a rocky entry into the water (beach itself is sandy), but if that will bother you if you walk along the beach closer to the beachfront homes near the Vermilion Yacht Club the beach entry into the water is sandy. No lifeguards on duty, paddle boards, and floats are allowed. No beach shack for changing, but there is an outhouse next to the lighthouse for changing. The shops are great, lots of food options, and the beach there feels like you're on vacation. My pointer used to love swimming there. My shihtzu, not so much, but he likes laying on a blanket under a tree with me in the beach) Somehow it's a rare place where people bring their dogs to swim and everyone gets along, never any issues, and it's just quiet and clean.
