The Old Vermilion Jailhouse Bed and Breakfast — Hotel in Vermilion

We can't thank Markos enough for an amazing experience.||||Our stay was for Friday, March 12. I emailed him via the website and he called me within 15 minutes. He patiently answered all of my questions and explained the COVID protocols he has put in place.||||We arrived in Vermilion Friday morning and at 12:30pm he texted us to let us know The Jailhouse was ready if we wanted to check in early. I had mentioned that to him during our original phone conversation but didn't think it would be possible. What a wonderful surprise that he did remember our early arrival and made it possible for us to get "locked up" before the normal check-in.||||We called him when we arrived to the Jailhouse and he walked us through everything via phone (due to COVID): how to work the sound system, the flameless candles, the phones in the cells in case we accidently got locked in (!), the heating unit, etc... We were impressed by so much: the painting of the walls & the mural, the actual metal bars still intact, the amazing shower, the cleanliness, the towels were fresh, chocolates next to the bed, stocked mini-fridge of goodies & beverages and the dress up costumes in the closet..... can't get any better than that!||||What we thought would be a weekend in Vermilion turned into The Jailhouse being the destination and not the city. What fun memories we made taking photos playing dress up. My husband of 35 years really enjoyed this old gal dressed up as a Corrections Officer! haha With a year like no other, The Jailhouse was an incredible place to get away from it all - literally. We only left to get appetizers and a couple drinks at the little pub on the main drag; and then fled quickly back to our prison!!!||||Markos - Thank You for making one of the most memorable nights we have had in a long time due to the uniqueness of your B&B and your attention to every detail. My wife and I stayed here the night of January 7th 2023 for our anniversary. Let me start out by saying that Markos was fantastic to work with. This was a surprise for my wife and he knew that it was a surprise, so whenever we needed to talk, he accommodated by calling me while she was at work. Now let's talk about the jailhouse. If you're a historian or you like romantic getaways, this place has what your looking for. We were amazed at how much attention was put into details. The painting of every cinder block and the paintings on the walls, the original toilets and sinks in the cells, so cool. One cell is now a shower, again an awesome job tuning it into a shower with jets, multiple showerheads and music pumped in through the speaker system. You get the whole jailhouse while staying. There is the master bedroom with a door that gives you privacy from the rest of the jail, 2 more cells with twin beds for other guests (great if you have 2 kids) each having their own flat screen TV. Nice touch having inmate outfits, correction officer outfit, hand cuffs and more. The location is in walking distance to restaurants, bars and local shops. There is also an old library that is available for overnight stay, which we were lucky enough to see. We plan on coming back in the summer months when things are happening. We just loved it. This place is absolute gem and a special gift for anyone who chooses to stay is the creatively stunning space it’s owners have created 🌟 There is a story behind ever detail…just ask and they are happy to share. We arrived to mood music playing in the spacious library suite we stayed in. We were in awe of our surroundings which were spectacular. It was apparent how much care was put into creating the space and the mood to ensure a unique experience, unlike any other. Our room was immaculately clean. Any and every toiletry you could possibly need was available in the event anything was forgotten. The room was fully stocked with all sorts of goodies for our pleasure. We enjoyed sitting at our private bar, having intimate discussions on the leather sofa, and ultimately retiring to our comfy beds. The service was exceptional. The town of Vermillion is an adorable place to explore and enjoy. I highly recommend the Old Vermillion Jailhouse for your stay. I promise you that it will be unlike any other.
