Stumbled upon this place while out for a one-tank drive on a beautiful fall day. We hadn't had eastern European food in a long time and decided we'd try this instead of the standard burger. The place was really busy, but on entering we noticed it was mostly bar business at 1:30 pm. There was a local bar hop/treasur hunt to raise funds for the local pet shelter taking place, so all the places were busy.
The place is dark and outdated looking, showing a general lack of maintenance. There was only 1 single user bathroom operational in the 2 room restaurant. Most patrons were at the bar. I am not a fan of carpeted floors in restaurants because of the sheer volume of bacteria and dirt permanentaly lodged there.
The waitress was very friendly, and accommodating, and whatever positive rating I can give would go to her. It appeared that besides the multiple bartenders, she was the only waitress, though she could easily accommodate the 5 tables taken for dining.
My husband ordered the chicken paprikash with spaezle ($22), while I ordered the weinerschnitzel (veal I only learned because I asked) ($27). For the general ambiance these were pretty stemmy prices to be sure.
The chicken paprikash came with a ladle full of spaezle and 2 3x2 inch pieces of chicken breast from what had to be very old chicken as it was tough and stringy, and a large spoonfull of sauce (no onions). The underlying flavor was paprika and sour cream and nother else. The weinerschnitzel was deep fried with a breading, and very thin slice of veal, at best 1/4 inch thick. It was extremely dry and was very salty, and I like my foods a bit saltier than most. I had to peel off the breading and eat the otherwise unseasoned thin slice of veal, or I would have had nothing to eat. The spaezle was tasteless, and had a slightly musty taste to it, as if the flour was stored in an old musty basement. Even salt didn't help this. We both left our spaezle uneaten.
This was not a $55 dollar lunch (we had a coke). A local diner could have prepared a more edible meal for half the cost easily. It's a very limited menu, and they probably do better with the appetizers for the bar area. Clearly, there's no money going back into the place.
Save yourself the indigestion. There are better spots to dine...
Read moreWhere to start. I was really excited to check this place out. Looks like a really cool place and have heard good things. Looked forward to sitting out on the patio with some friends and when asked about seating was told that it was “first come first serve” and advised to “stake out a table” by the server inside- Not to mention the lack of social distancing taking place, and the improperly worn masks by the staff- we acknowledged this and waited patiently for over an hour for a table to open up. After taking it upon ourselves to check in with a table to ask if we could take their table once they were done, the same table who ended up closing out their tab ended up ordering drinks from the bar, while making snarky comments about us waiting for them to leave. The restaurant put us in a position to fend for a table and then some employee had the gull to tell us “these people were here first” after the “Karen” sitting at the table admitted to being there for over 3 hours. Most decent establishments have imposed a 2 hour minimum for guests to dine during COVID19 or at the very least imposed a sort of wait list for the “first come first serve areas.” Just really disappointed that this place left us to stand and wait around and let these people linger around after they had already closed out while my group and several other people were waiting to eat and put money in the pockets of their servers and eventually forced to leave. Hope they realize this “fend for yourself” strategy is not only lazy but totally inconsiderate of customers. Do...
Read moreStopped in Sunday 10/23/22 for dinner. Been there many times and always had great food and service. This time not so much. Went to sit out in patio, bar was almost full so we sat at a table, which a few were open. Place was busy outside, inside not so much. We sat there for 15 mins before we were even noticed by staff even though the server walked by us several times. The only reason we were noticed was because I called out for menus when the not so friendly server was at the table right next to us. No eye contact made until she was waking away and I yell "excuse me can we get menus please". Her reply: "in a minute". She returned 5 mins later throwing them on the table and was turning to walk away and I asked her can we order drinks? Her reply: "what do you want". My girl friend ordered a standard bud light and I wanted a Hefeweizen. Her reply: "I don't have wheat". I asked "any wheat or just Hefeweizen"? I was gazed at with daggers so I decided on a mixed drink instead of beer like I wanted because obviously getting a beer list from this chick was going to be a nightmare. Great, 20mins in and we at least have our drinks ordered, good start. Well, another 20 goes by no sever and no drinks. 40mins of my afternoon wasted. So we got up and left spending our money at Angry Bull. THEY weren't angry to take our dinner order and drinks. Guess I'll be going to Parma from now on for...
