Prairie Oaks Apartments — Attraction in Verona

I've lived in this apartment community for three years, and it is the most accommodating and community oriented place that I have lived. Not only do you feel like you have a place of your own given the logistical layout of a private garage and private entrance, but you get to know your neighbors while everyone is outside grilling, walking their dogs, hanging out at the pool, or playing with their kids. It's much different than passing someone in the hallway. The area is super quiet; you'd never realize how close the schools and soccer field were if you didn't venture out. The management staff is phenomenal. Maintenance can come into your unit to repair something, and he leaves everything as he found it if not better. They are set on FIXING problems as opposed to making things last a little longer or another season, as I've seen in so many places. If there is a holdup - they are on top of letting you know why and how quickly they can get to you. There have even been times when they have shoveled my car out of a snow bank during a white out (that's a little above & beyond in my opinion) Overall, it's an awesome place to live. I cannot NOT recommend this living community more. Maintenance requests are not handled or addressed in any capacity. I have lived here since 3/29/24 and only just recently got the washer and dryer fixed. The request was pending and I continued to bother about it for months - barely any responses. When HVAC finally came, he said “just to let you know, you have been significantly overpaying on electric since you moved in because of all of these issues”. I contacted upper management and did not hear back for over a month when I began threatening with legal action. No compensation was granted.

The worst issue, however, has been the wasps. There is an infestation in our wall and has been since MAY. I kill between 20-30 a DAY in the apartment. I am extremely thankful I only have cats and not children, because even my cats I am very fearful for. My spouse has been stung multiple times killing them just INSIDE the house. We have spent extensive amounts of our own money buying sprays and foams to help, to no avail. Management continues to ignore this as well. Loved living here. Mike and Melissa are a great team in keeping the place together. The neighborhood is quiet and very enjoyable to walk around. The apartments are quiet. We lived in an upper level above the garages, and the only noise we got was the occasional garage opening.

Only down side of living here is Katz, the property management company. They are difficult to get a hold of and frustrating to work with. But their employees on site are great.
