Love this shop. Have been going here for years. Family owned Both Joey's Ms.Dottie and all the other employees never failed to make me feel welcome when I migrated from Comic Chest.
Fair prices, decent selection, and odds are they will order any new thing for you, or keep eyes open for back issues for the comics. Joey has had everything from amazing fantasy 15, New mutants 98, and many other keys come through his door so be sure to poke your head in as you never know what he's found lately.
Good size for FNM or other card tournaments, and with restrictions being lifted I am sure it will be lively again. MOVE QUICK if you want pokemon though they get cleaned out of the newest sets fast due to the demand as of my writing. They Also have good selection of mtg singles, I have seen power 9 in their cases and even sold reserved list cards myself to them, very fair on negotiating when you sell your cards to them.
Carries a small number of toys ranging from 90s era popculture toys to more modern marvel select figures, but they definitely favor cards and comics.
There are also high quality enamel pins for sale for pin collectors that my wife loves.
All in all to paraphrase a rather average country song by Toby Keith "I love this shop, its my kind of place. Just walkin' in the front door puts a big smile on my face." So if you are in the area visiting, live in Virginia Beach and need a shop for Magic, Yugioh, Pokemom or to start a comic pull. I suggest you look into Comic Kings. They've never let me down. Here is a picture of some of my favorite books I've bought from them to show what...
Read moreI’m from Pittsburgh and recently traveled to this area to meet up with some friends and we checked out this card store. Unfortunately both the staff and the local population of Pokemon players knew very little about the game and the cards value. I brought in a binder to try to trade with some people and they were very aggressive with my cards I ended up walking out because they couldn’t stop touching everything.
The owners kept harassing people as well and just acted like it was their local hang out which it kind of is but it’s also a store so you need to maintain a sense of professionalism and not antagonize your customers as evident in many other reviews posted on here. The owner goes out of his way to read reviews that people left on other stores and then leave negative feedback against them because of it. We have a local store in Pittsburgh where the owner does the same thing and it’s borderline harassment!
There are plenty of other comic shops in the area I would give them your business before this one.
Preemptive response to owner: your response to my review...
Read moreWe went to Comic Kings yesterday for the first time and WOW! What a shop! We were greeted upon entering and the place was buzzing with all kinds of gamers. The staff members were friendly, ready to help and very knowledgeable. Their comic book selection is extensive and there are books for all ages. My youngest even got a Bluey book which made his day. The oldest and I couldn’t help but check out the rare Pokémon cards… and there’s a HUGE box of more common ones to dig through and a table for you to sit and sort too! They have a highly desirable Cheeto Charizard which I have never seen in person and was absolutely thrilled about. (sorry, not sorry, big nerd.) I thought I found a new switch case but it turned out to be a Pikachu overflow case for duplicate trading cards which was even better. After we checked out, our associate, Joey handed my little boys Pokémon posters and a HUGE jumbo Pikachu playing card. They were SO excited about it to the point that everyone we’ve came across the last 24 hours know about it. We will most...
