I lived less than a half mile from Mt. Vernon. l958 through 1968. We attended Pohick during this time period and I was confirmed there. Our family always sat in the first pew to the right after entering. I later sang in the choir for a few years before we moved to Denver. Read moreFabulous stop! A church that George Washington helped to build and attended that is still in use today. Beautiful building and grounds. Members of church are docents and give tours. While I visited members of the church were making apple buttle in huge copper pots over wood fires and stirring with four foot ladels. They were friendly and invited me to return the next day for services. Gravesites from Revolutionary War.
