The guided tour of Rippon Lodge is a must if you decide to visit. The tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging, and the history of the house and grounds is fascinating to learn about. The tour explores each chapter of it's nearly three century history as it takes you through the house, which retains much of its original features from 1747. I love the grounds and gardens of Rippon Lodge, the house seems very grand from the outside, so I was kind of expecting the same from the inside. There are some beautiful areas within the house like cherrywood paneling. Some of the home is being restored to look 1820/1850 era. Read moreI explored just the grounds on my first visit, two years ago. This is my follow up since then. Tours for the lodge are available during normal hours for a small fee. The grounds are open until sundown. There is a lot to see, there's a garden that attracts beautiful butterflies. I like the garden areas, lots of birds chirping during my visit, also peaceful after hours. Has restrooms and picnic tables on site.
