Came here for the Green Flag Experience off a Groupon. While the Speedway is dated, it is still a great experience given that there are not many speedways left in the area and especially no other experiences like this.
While it is like driving an oversized Go-Cart, there are no speed governor's and you are in control. These TQ Midget Cars can go up to 120 mph. However, for us average drivers, you can get up to speeds of 60-70 mph. You get 5 laps around the 1/3 mile track, with laps averaging 15-30 seconds. For $30 more, you can get 5 more laps.
The whole experience lasts 1-2 hours from check in to completion. They provide you with Cotton Socks, a Fire Resistant suit and shoes and Helmet. All you need is your License and CASH if you plan on purchasing a Photo, GoPro video, or additional laps. Otherwise, leave everything else in the car because there are no lock boxes available.
No experience is needed. They give you a personal presentation about driving the vehicle and then bring you to the vehicle to learn everything you need to know about it. After this, you are ready to go! Everyone goes separately, however, you will follow an experienced driver in a "pace" car, but this will not limit the experience.
Without a Groupon, I do not know if I would pay full price to do this experience. They do offer a Two for One special as well for $220 that includes 10 laps instead of 5, so that may be worth it.
It is also worth noting that they only run this Experience during the summer time at...
Read moreI've always wanted to go here and finally went on the last weekend of the season. Seven different classes of qualifying and races made for quite the evening! The legends division was probably my favorite. Factory stock was also cool. The modified class, which are the big boys, were super fast and super super loud! My son and I had a great time !
The place has seen better days I'm sure, but everything is still super clean. Most of the work needs to be done on the bleachers as there were some sections you couldn't sit on because of rotting wood or nails and screws sticking out. But on the good side they did have all of them marked! Concession food wasn't all that good (my burger bun was a bit stale and the fries are the real skinny type so they were over crispy for my taste ) and the seating areas where you would eat also weren't the best. I guess on par what you would expect for a local racetrack.
I know this place almost went under a couple of years ago during COVID so I'm glad to see that it's still around and I applaud the new owners on the job they've done keeping this place going and keeping it as nice as it is. A little more sprucing up, especially in the seating areas (and maybe some better burgers) definitely wouldn't hurt though.
This isn't something I see doing all that often, but for something to do once a season it's a blast! Just be sure to dress for the weather. It got pretty chilly the...
Read moreI usually love going to this track, it's always a lot of fun. However, tonight was an exception. When purchasing tickets, we asked what would happen if it ended up raining and they had to cancel races. We were told that, if half the races were not completed, we would be able to use the tickets for admission any other weekend (unless there was an upcharge for the weekend we went, in which case, we would just have to pay the upcharge). Tonight, legends, limited late models, factory stocks, sportsmen and fast 4s were supposed to run 25 laps each and modifieds were supposed to run 40 laps. We made it through the legends and two laps of the limited late models before it rained and they had to call it. They made the decision to not issue refunds or allow for the tickets to be used another weekend. I would understand if they managed to make it through half the races as explained, but that was not the case. I hate to leave a bad review given how much I love this track, but this decision was unacceptable. The races are always fun, but decisions like these are...
