Samuel Nelkin County Park — Attraction in Wallington

Right now it's a three. A tree crashed thru one end of the tennis courts. The fence has since been repaired but with big gaps at the bottom, for balls to sneak out. The courts have no nets and a sign on the gate says closed for renovations. We'll see, usually most of the money flows uphill to the other end of Bergen county. Dog park is ok. Can't say the same for some of the owners. The runs are divided big dog/little dog. At times some don't read very well and their dogs are not as well behaved as they would want to believe.

People ignore the "don't feed the birds" sign. So the geese stay and there is goose droppings EVERYWHERE. Apparently taking flight has a laxative effect on the birds so if they're about to fly over head don't look up with mouth open. Best time to walk is right after a hefty rain. The pond is mechanically aerated, for it's mostly standing water with a wash of fertilizer from the homes up top and goose, duck droppings, directly or indirectly, delivered to the water. No bass here, carp, catfish and Sunnies are what survive in water like that. Eyes up to the sky squirrels as a falcon or maybe it's a hawk has recently made Nelkin a part of it's hunting ground....

This park has almost everything. A beautiful lake that, in the warmer months, is often filled with geese. It has almost everything a park should. A playground. An old yet functional basketball court. A dog park. A picnic area. There are plenty of places to sit. I've also noticed that about 90-95% of the benches have some sort of memorial on them. Great place to bring kids, go for a walk, walk your dog, or just relax. There are also a good amount of trash cans throughout the park, conveniently placed. They also have wheelchair...

My 1st time in this park and my family and i absolutely loved it the childrens area was great with variety of things for my 2 yr old to do the dog park just down the way in the same area was great clean and a few friendly dogs and people where there theres also a baseball field right there in the park parking was comfortable however it was evening time when we went nice area seems safe and clean def...
