When invited with 13 of your closest friends to enjoy wine and olive oil, you get pretty excited for the experience. Something we do regularly from local vineyards in NY state to Sonoma, CA. The atmosphere of the place was cute but sort of disorganized and not much direction or greeting coming in. In turn followed by two “timeshare” like pitches and a very lecturing vs. educational and enjoyable tasting. Eventually after the final “timeshare” speech we feel we are finally free to discuss the wines and catch up with the 13 friends we came to enjoy a kid free night with. In turn, we are saddled with a scolding about respect for adults. Non of which was given to us, as adults. If I needed to be quiet and put my head down and sign papers and provide emails, I’ll stay at work. If I need to witness tantrums and meltdowns, I’ll remain home with my three toddler aged children whose behavior is expected to be as so. They sadly lost a lot of business not only from us but friends and family. Not...
Read moreA great experience for all that attend this wine-making school. You decide the level of participation. One of the best entry points is as a 1 case member of a team producing a barrel of a wine that you prefer. And you should have no fear of not having enough time. If your are really constrained your total hours or involvement from start to finish could be as little as 5 hours. That is not much over an average of 9 months. And once you meet the people you will so much look forward to attending each phase. Bring some snacks and make a mini party. John, Di, and John Jr are aces to deal with and Jr has your back (and front) through every step. I have been using MWWU for 10 years and it is always exciting to show up with your bottle at a dinner with friends and announce,...

But she talked the whole time and her husband came the last 10 mins of the event (an hour and 20 mins in and gave another selling pitch to only yell at us for talking!) I'm pretty sure a wine tasting is supposed to be a fun event talking and sharing your experiences with the wine and friends.. however we were told to stop talking even when talking about wine! We go to wine tastings all the time.. always a good time and have never been told to stop talking so they can do a sales pitch! So unless you want a sales pitch the whole hr and half and can't talk then go here! Oh and a whole table of 10+ ppl walked out on them during his no...
