I would give it a fine 5 âď¸, if I wasnât almost 70 yrs old, knee surgeries, fused back etc
I love that it was shady on a day too hot to be out of the shade.
I âforgotâ how careful one needs to be on certain type trails. Itâs very steep going right up the biggest hill trail sort of to the R & behind the Girls Club Lodge(?)
Only saw 2 ppl, no other dogs, good for my training, one helped me find an easier way down as he knew the paths. To the R at the wooden bench going down, then 1st trail to the L back to the parking lot.
I might not have made it back down the steep way up. As it was, going back down I hit a patch of loose gravel & oops went both my feet .. should have held the dog closer .. she helps downhill, most of the time. When I ask her to. Duh
Be careful. I wouldnât take the steep trail without knowing all my options for coming back down. Or with kids.

Another epic trail carved into one of PNW's popular gulched communities of parks smack dab in the middle of where you want to be most of the time! Usually packed to the hilt on weekends and typical holiday weekends, but during the week is a virtual ghost spot! A dog walkers paradise for the active hill climbers and switchbacks! And a pleasant workout for hours of strolling through shady acres of super tall trees and cool creek breezes reward you with an afternoon of, "What heat index?"
There is really no chance of getting lost in this loopy trail, as the misleading map is not to scale... er, sumfin. Because after wandering a while into it, you feel as if everything looks familiar. That is until you get your bearings and wind back do you realize how big a vertical space can fit in the steps! Fantastic day out if you are so,...

There were three other vehicles in the (unpaved, medium-sized) parking lot when we got there, but we never saw anyone else the whole time we were there. Just a dog in a neighboring yard barking a greeting ("Take me with you..!").
The lodge building, which was all locked up (this was in early February), looked pretty run down (moss on the roof, peeling paint, general air of decrepitude), which is really the only reason I'm knocking off a star.
The rest of the park is basically just a trail up to the ridgeline (steep at first, then gradually rising), but it's very scenic, wild-feeling and quiet (except when my kids are there). The perfect place for a brief...
