Lovely new-feeling pirate ship playground with bathrooms, shaded pavilions for picnics, and quite a bit of close, free parking. The view of the river is lovely, as is the marina across the river.
The playground is just off the highway, so it's convenient as a stop over if you are looking for a break from a road trip, but there is no place to buy a bite to eat. The playground is a part of the long, narrow Anacostia Park system that includes an Aquatic Center, tons of recreational fields, and a Boathouse. Read moreIt's a nice themed playground structure with two slides and I think one set of manipulatives. There isn't a swing nearby, though. I would say it's designed for older kids, not toddlers/preschool age.
There's a building that's supposed to house men's and women's rooms, but they were closed. Two port-a-potties have you risk PTSD to use them.
It does over look the Anacostia river.
Overall I suppose more positives than negatives. But I won't be back. Better, more interactive, and more well kept playgrounds...
