I love these courts—they have so much potential, but they’re currently underutilized and in need of some care. This morning, my boyfriend and I went out to clean up around the sides of the courts. We picked up trash, cleared debris, and did what we could to make the space more inviting.
I run a women-led tennis community here in DC called City Girls Serve, and we’re passionate about creating safe, fun, and accessible tennis experiences in underused public spaces like this one. We’re actively looking to use and care for these courts regularly. We truly believe in giving back and building community through sport.

Read moreDisappointed. Online hours aren’t accurate. No one answers the phones. Upon arrival I was greeted by a gentleman that asked “what I needed.” Staff were very rude and unhelpful. They indicated that they worked for Mobile parks and recreation and that the bathrooms and pool were closed to the public. I live in the community and have been living in this community for over 10 years. It’s unfortunate that you can’t receive respect in your own community. An update on closures or events inside the recreation would be helpful for those who would like to use...
Read moreI haven't been in this park in over 20 years. I was truly impressed with how clean it is and the many park police that were roaming the grounds. This is truly an historical park for African Americans that were raised in SE, DC. Large clean grassy areas, pool, playground facilities and plenty parking. A great place to host any event.
